hansol was confused.
why did this guy just introduce himself?
he had to admit, the stranger was creeping him out a bit.
but alas, his thoughts were cut short as he hears seungkwan screeching beside his and clinging to his arm.
"oh my god! what happened?" seungkwan says, confused.
the stranger, donghyuck, speaks up. "it was probably because of the storm. you'll probably have to wait it out."
he looks out the window for a brief moment.
"i guess i'll be going. stay safe."
he walks off, turning a corner, going only god knows where.
"who was he?" seungkwan asks.
"some person. he came up to me before, when you were still looking at food, and asked me questions. stuff like that." hansol says as he looks around.
"ah. okay. how long do you think the power will be out?"
"probably a while, judging by these clouds." hansol says, suddenly by the window, looking out at the grey sky.
seungkwan follows him, sitting in one of the seats facing the window as he watches hansol investigate the skies, a smile on his face.
"we just gonna wait here until the power comes back?" seungkwan asks as hansol takes a seat next to him.
"i mean, that's really the only thing to do. we could go back to your parents house, but the power would probably be back by then." hansol says.
they sit in silence for a moment before hansol suggests, "how about we play hide and seek?"
seungkwan gapes at him, "now? really?"
"yeah, really. what else are we going to do?"
"lots of other things! there are so many other options!"
hansol rolls his eyes, "please? i just want to do something to pass the time."
seungkwan sighs, "fine, but just until they fix the power situation."
hansol pumps his fists in the air with victory, smiling at seungkwan, "you want to count first?"
"sure." seungkwan huffs, getting up from the chair and turning towards the window.
"count for a minute!" hansol says, already slowly walking away.
seungkwan laughs quietly to himself, "okay, don't get lost."
and when he turns around, hansol is already gone.
........
"when do you think they're going to come?" soonyoung asks jihoon, who's staring off into the distance.
jihoon looks at him, eyebrows raised.
soonyoung clears his throat, "the infected. when do you think they're gonna come?"
jihoon hums, "oh. i don't really know. hopefully some of the other soldiers have already found them. you're not worried are you?"
soonyoung shakes his head, "nope. not at all. are you?"
jihoon wavers, "uhm..no. i'm good."
soonyoung could tell he wasn't.
though, he wasn't going to press him about it.
"you said you lived in busan, right? what were your parents like?" soonyoung carefully asked.
he thought he just wasn't going to answer until he hears in a small voice, almost a whisper, say, "they were amazing."
soonyoung smiles softly, "yeah?"
"yeah, they were always really nice to me. i'm an only child, so i'd always have their full attention. it was nice."
"that's cool. i had an older brother."
"how was that?" jihoon asks, laughing a little.
"it wasn't actually that bad."
jihoon chuckles and says nothing.
a moment of silence passes before,
"can i hug you?"
jihoon whips his head around, gaping at soonyoung.
"wha...what? i mean..sure."
soonyoung smiles at him, leaning over and wrapping his arms around jihoon's small frame.
he could feel jihoon tense up, could smell the berry scent lingering in his hair.
soonyoung enjoyed the moment for a short minute before he saw something in the distance.
jihoon felt him tense, "soonyoung? are you okay?"
soonyoung didn't reply.
jihoon pulled away from the hug and looked at soonyoung's face.
it was pale, all color drained from his face.
jihoon shook him, "soonyoung?"
he said nothing, only seeming to stare into the distance.
jihoon turned from soonyoung's face to the buildings below.
he saw nothing.
he turned back to soonyoung.
"they're here, " soonyoung whispered, "they're here."
this has gone in some really weird direction, i know.
