The Final Chapter- Saw That Coming

~About 3 months later~

Jolt gazed out the window of his condo, down at the city. In truth, it was actually the penthouse, but he considered it a condo. Below him, the usual hustle and bustle of the Pokémon going about their business continued, as it had the previous day and would continue to do the following. It still amazed him how completely without the direction of humans, the Pokémon had all but erased the damage caused by the fighting in such a short time. The construction Pokémon such as the Watchogs, Conkledurrs and Diggersby, who had worked with humans in construction before, had been instrumental in the repair process. Snowpoint City looked almost as it was, with a single major change; it was completely inhabited by Pokémon. Humans only visited rarely, and even then were usually there on diplomatic errands or just passing though.

Snowpoint was now the capitol and a refuge for all Pokémon, where they could come and be safe from any danger. All Pokémon lived in harmony and free of fear. Marlin, though he had intended for that to happen to Snowpoint, had been wrong about mass uprising. As soon as the fighting ended, everyone soon learned that the Pokémon were content with one city, and were quickly at peace.

Sun brushed up against him, severing Jolt's train of thought. "Whatcha thinking about?" she asked, even though she already knew by her psychic abilities. "It's just crazy how fast everyone's recovered, and how it's business as usual," he replied, happily nuzzling her. "Well, I wouldn't say nothing has changed," Snow giggled as she sat down beside them. Her swollen belly portrayed how deeply pregnant she was, and was due to have her egg any time now. Sparky and Angel were out having dinner with Midnight and her young Eevee, Flash. Below them, he could hear Eclipse wrestling with Nightshade, his own son, named after his slightly darker fur. He could almost hear Breeze laughing, and just right of them Flame and Sky were probably resting with their cub, Cocoa. All the rest of his friends were off enjoying themselves in the cool evening air, as they often did as groups. Even Volt occasionally left her home on the farm, bringing Choice, her daughter, with her for play dates and the like.

The Pokémon of the city had granted the heroes of the battle their homes in the building and immunity of prices for their service in causing the battle to end and restoring peace in the city. It was a good thing too, because Jolt would probably have gone broke by now from all Sparky's shopping if they hadn't. Sparky too, had been wrong in her original assumptions. Though she shared Jolt with Sun, Snow and Midnight, he loved each of them just as much as the others, and made time each and every day to make every one of them feel special.

Jolt left his home just as the sun disappeared over the horizon, and jogged his way through the snowing city. Something had been bugging him for a while, and now he was finally acting on it. Once out of the city, he put on a burst of speed and shot up the mountain, hoping to be quick with his visit. In under 15 minutes he was there, standing at the opening of their old cave. He padded inside the quiet place, keeping a sort of reverence as he did. He could make out the place where they had once eaten their meals, the main fireplace, their individual rooms, and the stream they had drank from and bathed in. Satisfied that everything was just as it had been, he turned to leave, but stopped when something caught his eye. Off to the right of the main chamber, almost out of sight, was a pokeball. As he walked over and examined it, it had the words "I'm sorry Jolt" etched into it. Jolt wondered when his former trainer had visited, feeling a sudden rush of peace and closure course through him.

The moon was high overhead by the time Jolt got home. "Where were you? Midnight asked, closing the door to Flash's room after having just put him down to sleep. "Just thought I'd pay a visit to our old cave," he yawned, going over to his favorite pillow in the corner of the dim main room, lit only by the soft glow of the TV. "Really? How was it?" Sparky asked, perking up at the mention of their first home. Jolt shrugged. "Just the same as we left it. Undisturbed." Snow and Sun tiredly flopped down on the couch, settling in to another night of sleep by TV. Midnight took up her nightly spot by the window, where she would gaze out at the beautiful starry night sky until she felt herself get tired, and Sparky drank her nightly cup of heated milk mixed with Combee honey before bidding them all goodnight and settling into her room.

Jolt settled into bed last of all, on his makeshift collection of pillows and blankets until he felt like sleeping in a bed. It wasn't long before he heard the TV shut off, and felt Snow silently pad over and lay by him. Her warmth felt good against him as he reached his arm out and around her. Next came Sun, who nuzzled her way into his other side, followed by Midnight, now tired, taking a spot with her head on his leg. Last of all came Sparky, who nuzzled her head into his, completing their little group. Jolt felt himself smile, embraced by their tender warmth and love as he slowly drifted off to sleep. This is home... he thought. And he was happy
