Chapter 18

Jolt: So, I guess you're pretty canon now.

Eclipse: I suppose I am. *holds the newborn Eevee in his arms*

Jolt: Hard to believe you were a human just a few short weeks ago.

Eclipse: Yeah... Man does time fly when important stuff happens.

Jolt: So, who's winning the pole?

Eclipse: Snow, followed closely by sky I think, but I'm still unsure.

Jolt: Whys that?

Eclipse: *Starts rocking, adjusting the blanket the Eevee is wrapped in and holding it more comfortably* Well, you had a kid with Sparky, but I originally intended for you to be with Snow, but Sun deserves you the most, but I like the Jolteon x Leafeon ship the most.

Jolt: Ahh, decisions decisions...

Chapter 18- On the Road Again

Sparky was dumbstruck. The cave, their new, miserable, yet still homey home, lied in ruins. It was all gone: the roof was blown up and had collapsed, the walls were smashed and shot up, what was left of them anyway, and the surrounding area was covered in scorch marks and holes, suggesting a battle had taken place. Nothing was usable anymore, save the berry stockpile and most of the bags, which had fortunately managed to not be smashed. She glanced to her left. Nearby, Jolt was taking to Rubi and Midnight, both of whom had were panting, dirty, and covered in bruises and gashes. Breeze was nowhere to be found. She sat down on the cold ground, and wanted to cry at the sight of the pitiful ruins. She hadn't been all too comfortable in the new den, but at least it was shelter; at least it was home. Now, they would have to move, again. The first move was stressful enough, what with Angel and leaving Jolt behind and all. A silent rage began to boil in her at the sight, but it was quickly cooled down as Angel padded up to her, and took a seat behind her. For a minute, the Jolteon and the Vaporeon sat side by side in silence, the evening sun reflecting the small fires still burning from the attack.

"So, I guess we have to move again..." The Vaporeon sighed, and Sparky offered a sad nod in response. Angel thought for a moment, then gave her mother a pat on the shoulder. "Well, I guess at least now we can find a cave that doesn't keep you up at night with cold air, whistling and water dropping on your head." Sparky giggled, and stood up, her mood improved already. Though young, her daughter always knew just what to say. Angel went to inform the others of what had happened while Sparky went and salvaged what she could of their supplies. It would be enough to last them for a few days, but they would need to go berry picking before they began to travel again. She sighed as she pulled the final Oran berry from the wreckage, and began to sort the berries into bags. It was going to be a long week.

"Calm down Rubi, and tell me exactly what happened here," Jolt said in his most soothing voice. Both the Umbreon and the Espeon were scared out of their wits, and in addition to their wounds and the wreckage of the den, he didn't blame them. It would have taken a sizeable force, at least 5 or 6 grown Pokémon, to overpower Rubi and Midnight, then destroy the shelter like that. Unfortunately for the two Eevees, though they had plotted the destruction of the shelter and executed it perfectly, then covered their tracks despite not having Breeze with them, they had totally forgotten an explanation. Rubi silently cursed herself for forgetting something so obvious, when it should have been one of the first things planned. She was a psychic type. She was supposed to be smart.

"I-It was H-Houndoom... a force of them passing through... We c-couldn't stop them..." Midnight shuddered, covering for her friend. She was a perfect little actress, her sly nature aiding with the little lie and the performance. "I'm s-sorry!" she wailed, and threw herself into Jolt's arms for the grand finale. Rubi silently thanked her friend for the cover, as Jolt seemed to buy it. At least, he wasn't questioning it. She did, however, wonder where Breeze was. As if on cue, Jolt's head snapped up and he asked, "Where's Breeze?" This time, Rubi was prepared. "We haven't seen her a-all day... I hope she's o-okay..." This was partly true, as she really hadn't seen Breeze since she went off to practice her moves. Jolt nodded, and went back to comforting the Umbreon in his arms, who Rubi saw was definitely enjoying herself. Her trembling had stopped and she had her head buried in his neck fur, concealed under his spikes. He was gently rubbing her head, and Rubi felt a pang of jealousy course through her for a moment. She quickly let it go though as she remembered their conversation the night before, and how bad Midnight really missed the attention of her mate. Rubi shrugged off the jealousy and stood up, padding over to where Sparky was to tell her the story of what happened. She couldn't shake the nagging curiosity of just where that Sylveon was, though.
