a/n : this chapter contains violence and violent actions.
~Lee Minho~
"Minho, sweetheart, can we talk?" My mom pulled me aside from the table, as she had fixed my breakfast disaster.
I nodded, getting up and following her. I looked back at Jisung, who smiled and gave me a little wave. I returned the action, and he laughed.
I was led to the living room, and my mom sat down on the loveseat. I followed her lead, sitting beside her. My heart beat picked up its pace, what was all this?
"What's going on?"
She placed a hand on mine, and frowned. "Jisung needs to go home, Minho. He can't stay here."
"His father will kill him if he goes back there! No mom, come on please."
She took a deep breath, pulling me closer to her. "I don't want anything to happen to him, you know that. But your father cannot allow him to stay here more than necessary. This is a business, he is your rival."
"You said you supported us, mom. Y-You said-"
"What I believe and what your father believes are two very different things. Please don't make this harder than it has to be. I believe you two really do have something, but you just met. There's no way you could live together so soon."
I rested my head on her shoulder, I felt like I was a child again. Except this time I wasn't upset over something small, this was important. "I'm not letting him stay here to benefit me, mom. I don't want him to show up on my doorstep bloodied up again."
"His life is not yours to control."
"Protecting him is not controlling him!" My voice was scary, even I didn't know who had just appeared. This wasn't me, I didn't raise my voice at my mother. "I-I'm sorry, I don't know where that came from."
"You love him, Minho. I understand that more than you think."
I wanted to throw things and break things. I wanted to scream and cry. I wanted to punch Jisung's stupid father for hurting him. I didn't want to send him back home.
My mom pulled me in one last time, hugging me tighter than ever. I know she didn't want to be the one to do this. I tried to understand where my dad was coming from, but what harm could Jisung do? Like imagine the empire the could rise if the two companies weren't rivals for no reason.
"Let's go back to the table, you can speak to Jisung about it later."
I nodded, making my way to the dining table. Jisung sat there without any emotion on his face. He looked at me slightly, almost flinching when I approached him.
He got up from his seat, smiling at my mother. "I'll leave now, thank you for letting me stay. I really do appreciate it. I don't want to be any trouble."
"Wait, no, Jisung."
"It's okay, Minho. I understand. We are supposed to ruin each other, that's what our parents set up for us. Our families built empires alone, and they happen to compete. Our feelings don't just stop the bad blood. We should have never even met. Don't blame yourself for a mess you didn't create, we just happened to born into it."
"Jisung, I don't want you to go."
"Maybe you should go upstairs, so this will be easier for the both of us."
"I'm not just giving up on this."
"Our parents are going to find one way or another to keep us apart. Don't ruin the healthy relationship you have with them for a boy you met just recently."
We stood across from each other, the table acting as a barrier. He turned his back to me, making his way to the door. I closed my eyes, my heart beating faster than ever.
"I love you, Han Jisung."
He stopped, his hand gripping the door handle. His head started to turn, but ultimately stayed facing the door. The house fell silent. The world stopped spinning.
"You love the idea of being with someone so forbidden."
Then he left, and my water glass flew against the wall.
~Han Jisung~
I practically ran home from Minho's estate. Tears blocked my vision, and it felt like Minho's clothes were strangling me. I knew there'd always be something that prevented us from being together. Whether it was family, business, or the pure reality that love just didn't exist in my life.
I found myself at my front door much sooner than I expected, and I was terrified of even trying to step foot inside. My father would surely treat me with violence instead of hugs and excitement. I was used to it anyway, it made me strong and capable of being a good business owner. At least that's what he told me.
I knocked on the door, not having my keys with me. My heart stopped beating, and the door swung opened.
"Jisung! Honey, Jisung's home!" My mother pulled me into the house, placing kisses on my forehead. She really was the only light in my life, although my dad made it clear he didn't love her.
My father appeared before me, his height alone made me timid. He gestured for my mother to leave, and then he waited for the right moment to break me down. His hand wrapped around the fabric of the sweatshirt, but his other hand held his whiskey glass still.
"Do you know what they do to boys like you in the business world? They rip them apart and make them look like complete trash."
The veins in his forehead popped out, and I felt myself fading away.
"That Minho boy doesn't love you. No one loves you. Why don't you understand that? What do I need to do to get that in your brain?"
He let go of me, allowing me to fall to the floor.
"And I expect you to attend school tomorrow, no more of this skipping to see your little boyfriend."
"But I love him, dad. And he loves me too." My voice was a whisper, and I was sure he wouldn't hear me.
"What did you just say?"
"I love him."
He threw his glass, sending sharp shards at me. But that was only the beginning of the night.
