Never Again

Chapter One

Rileys POV
I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring. Somedays I wish I didn't have school. Tell them all I know now, shout it from the rooftops, write it on the skylight, all we had is gone now, tell them I was happy and my heart is broken, all my scars are open. I turned my alarm off with a slap of my hand. While hopping out of bed and going over to my ensuite bathroom, I managed to bump my head, stub my toe, and hurt my ankle, they say it runs in the family. Yeah right. Somehow, magically, I finally get dressed into plain denim jeans and a red and white striped top, straightened my long, light brown hair and let it hang loose down my back.
"Riley, I'm coming in." My big sister Dallas announced, while walking into the room. She quickly did my makeup for me, then left the room. But not before reminding me that I had ten minutes left until Maddie and I go to school. I quickly threw my phone, IPad, homework, and various school books into my bag, then slung it over my shoulder. I raced down the stairs, and bumped into Dallas who was washing her breakfast dishes in the kitchen.
"Dally, come on, we've gotta go," I whined, impatiently tapping my foot.
"Calm down, RiRi!" Dallas exclaimed before asking "Have you eaten yet?"
"No, I don't have time. I'll eat at school though." I add, noticing Dallas's scrutinizing face.
"Fine, but you'd better eat." Dallas threatened, just as Maddie came through the doorway.
"Eat what?" Maddie asked, throwing me a quizzical glance.
"Nothin, Mads," I replied, before Dallas could answer her.
"Ok then girls, let's go." Dallas said, waving us out the door.
We hopped in her car. The ride to school takes approximately twenty minutes.
"Remember Demi's coming home today, so you'll see her after school." Speak of the devil, and the devil appears. Well kinda; at least her song came on anyway. But even if the stars and moon collide I never want you back into my life you can take your words and all your lies oh oh oh I really don't care.
"Turn it up, turn it up!" Maddie shouts.
"Change it!" I retorted, my voice going shrieky. Dallas didn't move a muscle, so I leaned over the seat and quickly changed it, and Fifth Harmony came on. I'm breaking down gonna start from scratch shake it off like an etch-a-sketch
my lips are saying goodbye my eyes are finally dry. I sang along to the song.
"Wow, good voice," Dallas, and Maddie commented at the same time.
"Umm, thanks I guess." I said, while blushing.
Finally we got to hell, AKA school. I hate it and the name hell is the perfect name for it. It's not like I'm bullied; I'm actually respected, but unfortuanately for Maddie it's not the same. She gets tortured every day, but made me swear not to tell anyone about it. Though, I'm starting to get worried for he. Basically everyday she comes home bruised, and beat up. I checked my schedule, then looked over at Maddie's. YAY! Today we've got the same schedule, which means I can keep an eye on her.
"Riley!" I heard my best friend Issie call from the other side of the hallway.
"Issie!" We started slowly running toward each other. I then got sick of slowly, so I ended up sprinting the rest of the way.
"I haven't seen you in ages, it's been a whole 48 hours!" I said, and heard Maddie groan from somewhere behind me. "Come on guys, we'll be late for class if we don't hurry up." I said, while linking arms with them, and dragging them along to our first class, English.
"Apparently we have a new teacher." Maddie commented.
"For what subject?" I asked. Maddie gave me a wierd look.
"For English, silly, and, before you ask, it's a girl, and her name's Serena Storey, and she's married." I shook my head.
"You know me to well, Mads."
"Well, we are sisters."
"Point proven!" I laughed, while opening the door to the classroom.
