Part two: The Discovery

April 22

The Shadow

He watched a slender figure, a woman, with long dark hair walk through the woods towards his sanctuary. He could see her carrying something, maybe a bag? No, it was too big for a bag. He knew she could not see him, and that is the way it shall stay.

He had spent so much time alone in the last few days; he almost forgot what human contact was like. He laughed to himself, “How could they not know? Idiots.”

He would soon have to have a talk with this woman, but not as himself oh no! He could not risk being seen. Just as The Shadow.

Alyannah

When she woke up, for the second, maybe third time? She was lying on the floor of some building. Her mom was lying next to her. She stared at her mom for a while as the sun broke through the window. She could see her dark hair was dirty and her blue blouse was torn and dirty too.

Her arm burned, and itched. She sat up and looked around. This place was creepy. From what she could see, there was a nasty looking couch that was flipped over, a huge desk kind of like at the doctor’s office. Across the room she could see a few chairs; some were broken.

What was this place? She decided to lay back down she was tired and couldn’t get her arm to stop hurting her. This was not the time or place to go exploring all by herself. She knew that, her mom would be mad.

The pain was becoming more apparent so she laid down and fell back to sleep.

The Shadow

He was outraged! They were sleeping in his home! How could they do such a thing? Don’t they know it’s rude to just invade someone’s home!

He paced, “With them here I have more of a chance of being caught!” There he was, talking to himself again. Maybe he was crazy? They had always said he was, but he never listened, Oh no, he knew he wasn’t crazy just highly intelligent.

A thin smile broke across his lip, “I guess these two ladies will have to join me here.”

With that, he flew out the door and down the stairs. He stood only inches from these intruders! The anger rose inside of him.

Oh the possibilities! He had never had a child in the building before! What would he do with them? His mind raced, thinking all sorts of different plans for them.

He looked at them with black eyes, cocking his head to the side “Wake up ladies, it’s my turn to play!”

Richard

He couldn’t help but wonder where his wife and daughter were. He knew Will was hiding something but couldn’t figure out what.

After they had gotten the car started it seemed they drove forever.

“Where are we?” Olivia asked stretching.

Will turned to look at her, “I am not sure, but I do not think we are in Blaine County anymore.”

Rick could see the lust in Will’s eyes. Whether it be for Olivia herself, or just for a woman in general.

Their group was weak. There was only three of them now but he hoped they would find Stella. He was fairly certain that Aly was dead.

He felt the tears welling in his eyes from the thought of both of his children being one of them.

He wasn’t sure how or why this had happened, but one thing was for sure, the world had gone to hell, or so he had thought.
