Puppy Love - Tierna Davidson

Tierna's Pov
The younger ones on the team were bored and we had the day off and Rose being Rose, she decided to an animal adoption centre to look at the dogs. "Let's goooo!" Rose shouts as she jumps out of the car. I'm not even sure if it have fully stopped. "Does she ever calm down?" Lindsey ask. "Not when it comes to dogs" Mal replies.

Against Roses pleads we start with cats and while Rose pouts in the corner the entire time the rest if us go around to each of the cats and let them. "Guys cmonnnnn let's go to the dogs!" Rose whines for the millionth time. "Okay Rose we can go to the dogs now" Andi says. Rose jumps up and down and pretty much sprints out of the room to go to the dogs. We all laugh and follow in the direction Rose took off in. When we get into the room Rose is already holding two different dogs.

Two of the workers come and let out a bunch of dogs so there is dogs walking around the room. I feel something rub up against my shin. I look down to see a small golden retriever puppy trotting between my feet. I coo at the little puppy and crouch down beside them and started petting their head. I gently pick up the dog and sit against the wall letting the dog settle on my lap. I was in awe of the little pup that I barely realised the worker trying to talk to me. I look up and see a worker looking down at me, "Sorry what did you say?".

They chuckle at me and gesture to the puppy in my lap, "Cute isn't she?". I nod excitedly, "Yeah! I love dogs so much. This little one is so cute". The worker smiles as they sits down beside me showing me the dog they were holding the whole time, "These two came in together. I guess they were from the same litter". I look at the other golden retriever they were holding only difference was their one was a boy, "Oh my heart. Both of them are so adorable!" I gush. The worker chuckles fixing the cap on their head.

I laugh for a second and point to their cap, "You go to Stanford?". They nod, "Yeah. And I already know you miss soccer superstar". "Well that doesn't seem fair that you know my name but I don't know yours" I state. "Oh well we better fix that shouldn't we?" She teases. "I'm Y/n L/n, nice to meet you Tierna Davidson". I shake her hand, "Nice to meet you too Y/n L/n".

For the first time I take a good look at her. She has wavy brown hair which is in a ponytail under her hat but there are strands of hair peaking out framing her face. She has freckles scattered across her cheeks along with these adorable dimples which are prominent when she's smiling. And god her eyes. She has these electric blue eyes that are so bright.

God I could get lost in those forever

"So I'm guessing the National team are in town for the upcoming game tomorrow?" Y/n asks snapping me out of my daze. "Am yeah. We're playing against Australia. Are you coming?" I ask hoping she is. She smiles at me still petting the puppy in her lap, "Of course have to come support the best team in the world now don't I". I smile, "Maybe I can see you after the game". "Maybe you will" she winks.

I can feel myself blush slightly but just shake it off and turning about to the dog in my lap, "So you studying to become a vet or something?". I can see out of the corner of my eye that she shakes her head, "No. I just work here cause I like dogs and I guess I know a lot about them. I'm actually studying to become a physio for a sports team". "Oh did you use to play anything?" I question. She nods, "Yeah used to play soccer but I injured my ankle and it never fully healed. So now I stick to healing players. Still love the sport though". "Well I think being a physio is cool. Who knows maybe you end up helping me one day".

We continue talking the entire time. There is never a lull in the conversation and we always find something to talk about. We were laughing at something when Andi and Mal came over, "Cmon T we got to head back to the hotel". I shake my head, "We only have to be back for 6:30 I thought". Andi raises an eyebrow at me, "Yeah it's 6 now. We got to head back". My eyes widen checking my watch and it is indeed 6. I blush and go to stand up handing Y/n back the puppy, "Sorry. It was nice meeting you Y/n". Y/n shrugs, "It was nice meeting you too. Not everyday you meet a professional soccer player". With one last goodbye Y/n turns to feed the puppies I guess. I can see Andi and Mal waiting for me but I hesitate and look at Y/n's retreating form.

Fuck it

"Y/n! Hang on a sec!". I jog over to her as she looks at me expectantly. "Am well I w-was wondering if uh I could get your number? It's just I enjoyed talking to you and just incase I don't see you at the match I don't wan-" I ramble before Y/n cuts me off. "Sure!". She puts the puppies down for a second and grabs a marker from her pocket and grabs my hand. I blush crimson as she writes her number on my forearm. Before I can embarrass myself further I decided it's time to go and head to where Mal and Andi are waiting for me. Both of them look at me obviously amused. I roll my eyes at them, "shut up".

I can feel arms wrap around me from behind as I snap out of my daze, "What you thinking about Love?" I sink into their embrace immediately knowing who it is, "Just the day we met". I can hear my girlfriend giggle at the memory, "That was a good day". After I got her number we continued to text constantly. I saw her after the game and she made the first move and asked me out on a date. She says it's because she would have been waiting a long time if she waited for me to ask her (which she probably isn't wrong about). And it when from there. Two years later still together. Y/n graduated and you will never guess where she got a job

Chicago Fricken Red Stars

It was perfect almost as if the universe was telling us to get together. Which leads us to where we are now. In our shared apartment in our fuzzy pajamas drinking hot chocolate to try and warm us up from the Christmas chills. "I have one more gift to give you as well" Y/n whispers into my neck sending shivers through me. I twist in her arms so I'm now facing her, "Y/n you didn't have to get me anything else. I'm happy just being here with you". "Well I just know your going to love this little surprise, but I need you to close your eyes for a bit" I says. I pout and she just laughs at me but I comply and shut my eyes. I can hear her scamper off and soon return a few minutes later. "Okay open them!". I uncover my eyes and see Y/n holding a box with small holes at the top. "Open it!" She shouts giddly. I chuckle at my girlfriend and open the box. I gasp at the contents.

Inside is a small golden retriever puppy

I pick him up and start petting him in awe. "Well I already know we both love dogs. But I wanted to get you something extra special. And he reminds me of the first time we met". I nod, "Awe Y/n this is incredible. Your incredible. I love it and I love you". She just smiles back at me, "I love you too T". She places a quick kiss on my lips
