He had no reason to have hope

His parents barely knew him, they just fought over him

He looked up and realized he'd bumped into a girl
His face flushed and he swallowed hard
He didn't know if he should keep his barriers up
"You're fine."
He knew it was his fault but he wasn't ready to admit that
"Uh, my names charlet! Uhm, it was nice to meet you but I gotten get home, bye!"
She began to scurry off
"Jesse."
She stopped, looking back and tilting her head to side
He flushed more, shoving in his hands in his pockets and looking down
"Jesse is my name."
She smiled brightly
"Well see ya Jesse!"
He turned around and began walking
His house was the same way hers was
