I didn't know what love was,
Until I saw you dancing in rain.
I didn't know what love was,
Until I saw you laugh and smile in that rain. The clouds bursted that day,
There the summer departed saying it's byes,
The cold harsh wind blew and the grey clouds embarked on the sky,
And beneath stood, you.The sky shattered and watered the dry earth,
There in the middle stood you,
You danced, and sung song in the music of the rain,
That day I realised what love was.Love is watching you dance in rain,
Sing the music, and love is watching you in all happiness,
That is love. While I sat there looking at you,
I forgot who I was, I forgot a part of me,
That part yearned for you,
And without you, I realised I couldn't be complete.Half of me is still here, adoring you,
Looking at your drenched hair,
Wet smile, and damp skin,
Half of me is somewhere else, holding you in my arms. That was the first time I fell in love,
It clenched me by my fist,
It roped me inside it's own noose,
It made me stand on a chair and wear that noose around my head,
And I did it.That was what loving you felt like,
Wrapping the noose around my neck eyeing you, dancing in the rain,
While I look at you, half part of me holding you in my arms and other half somewhere else.© Ashraf Shaikh
