Expecting a motherly relationship between Anne and Edith, her own mother, that expectation wasn't really true.
Anne has always "hated" her mother in her entries she talks badly about Edith as if she's not her mother. She's cold towards Edith and Margot.
Otto is the opposite of that. He's adored by his youngest daughter . Anne's a diarist which is why she's so famous today.
However, Anne had to deal with being with her mother for 25 months. That's a long time but Anne dealt with it even with arguments in the way.

While everyone she knew was being sent away, Anne had to stay inside and write down her feelings. She adored writing and was good at it.
But it wasn't something she never got bored of. Sometimes, she'd stop then come back. Omitting passages that she thought were Boring.
But that's what Anne did and was passioned about.
