While it is something that can be acceptable when used in DIALOGUE slang is best used sparingly - if not at all - when writing. The biggest reason for this being, It makes your story seem extremely unprofessional.You see, it's a long-lasting rule of mine that everything within your story should come from the world that you have created. The restaurants, celebrities, and politicians within your story should all be created by you. This also, of course, applies to any slang used within your story. It makes your world building process completely pointless if you keep referencing actual places or people.
And yes, this goes for realistic fiction writers as well.
You want your reader to be completely immersed in what you have created, and when you start to say things like "Yeet" or "Boomer" it breaks that immersion.
