"I'm going for some dinner, and I thought you might want to come." I say when I finally catch up with him. He looks the same as he did, and he also looks surprised to see me again, as if I'm attached to Max the Wonder Wallet. But I'm not and I'm determined to treat Aiden right, especially after the weatherman said that tonight the snow is falling and to expect the temperature to be 9°. Not exactly ideal homeless temperatures. He looks at me and says: "You don't know me. I could be some homeless serial killer." I scoff and then say: "Listen, Bertolli's is right down the block. They have the best Italian food in the city. And I don't feel like drinking wine alone." I say, pouring on the pathetic "please have dinner with me" act. The snow falling in my hair as I dig my hands further in my coat pocket. It's freezing, he can't possibly expect this conversation to continue in the cold. "All right let's go." I say as I hail a taxi. "I can't be in a cab!" He says. "You smell like snow and whiskey." I say as I slide in after him. "Bertolli's is fancy." "You've been?" I ask inquisitively. "Yeah, once upon a time." He says and stares out the window.
