BOWSERS POV

It was yet another uncomfortable evening at Clawdia's parents house.

The dinners at her parents house had started to become routine, after we got sick of all the takeaways. Because as great as Clawdia is, she is a terrible cook.

"So, Bowser,"said Clawdia's mom. "Any update on Junior?"

"Well, I've been in contact with him. I asked him if he wanted to come over for a visit and he said no."

Clawdia kicked me under the table.

"He says he's too busy with school."

They seemed satisfied.

"Sometimes I wonder if Junior even exists. We've never met him. Can we talk to him on the phone, Bowser?"asked Clawdia's dad.

"Sure. But with the time differences and all, I'm not sure if he'd reply,"I said.

That's a lie. The truth is that he doesn't even want to talk to me.

"Can we ring him anyway?"asked Clawdia's mom.

They were really pressuring me.

"Sure. Just let me dial the number,"I said, as I took out my phone and rang the number.

After a few rings, he finally answered.

"Hey Junior,"I said, with a fake cheery voice.

"Dad, what's up with you? At you drunk?"he smartly replied.

"Your grandparents want to talk to you,"I said, with the fake cheery tone that I use with Clawdia's parents.

"Your parents?"he said hopefully.

"No. Clawdia's parents,"I said, the cheery tone getting harder and harder to do.

This was the most real Junior had been in months, and I couldn't even be real back.

I put the phone on speaker and handed it to Clawdia's dad.

"Hello, Junior. Are the rest of your siblings around?"asked Clawdia's dad.

"Well, some of them are. Lemmy, Larry, Morton, Roy and Iggy are around. Wendy and Ludwig are busy studying. They're very smart you see. They are planning on going to university,"Junior said.

"Oh, that's nice! Taking after their mothers side! We're very smart, us Schneider's!"said Clawdia's mom proudly.

"Clawdia Schneider?"Junior said in disbelief.

"Yeah. Unlike your father here, we have an actual surname,"they both gave me a dirty look.

"Casual shade. I like it, Grandma and Grandpa,"he said.

They smiled.

"We always wanted a grandchild. Clawdia was an only child. She ran out, so we never got to meet you. We eventually peer pressured her to come back, but she didn't bring you back. Why is that?"

I gritted my teeth. If his lie didn't add up, than I would be exposed as a fraud.

"Oh, I'm busy with school right now. I might come out during the summer,"he said.

I breathed a sigh of relief.

"When does your school finish for the summer?"asked Clawdia's mom.

They didn't know where the line was, did they?

"The start of June,"said Junior.

"That's only two months away!"said Clawdia's dad with excitement in his voice.

Junior cheered. I could tell it was fake. I did live with him for 12 years, nearly 13.

13. It was his birthday last month, and I forgot!

No wonder he hated me. What sort of a dad am I?
