After I successfully finished cleaning up the shattered glass, nervously after I gain the audacity to walk up to Gaius I stop.  I can’t do this! He’ll think I am insane or worse! I can’t survive here without the proper
knowledge of the palace and my duties here though. What do I do?  That’s it I must tell him and if he doesn’t believe me I’ll just have to make him. One way or another! I can’t fail now I have my life on the line here. Please don’t let me mess this, or whatever ‘this’ is up!

I shakely make my way across the room where Gaius is fixing a potion of some sort. I reach out to touch his shoulder when suddenly the chamber door bursts open.
“Please you need to help my son!” A woman said as she bursts through the door drenched in sweat, carrying a boy no younger than five in her arms. The boy looked deathly pale and was shivering with his teeth clattering. “Please! I don’t know what else to do, I’ve tried every remedy I could think of, but I… I…” the woman trailed off and trying her best to restrain herself from letting the tears roll freely down her red cheeks.
“Quickly get him onto the cot,” a demanding voice booms from behind me.

I do as I am told and take the young boy from the arms of the mother who is now on the floor cover her sobs with her hand over her mouth and one hand on the floor to help her keep her balance so she does not fall onto the floor like a sack of potatoes.
I gently place the feverous boy onto the cot and get a clean looking towel then dipping it into the fresh ice-cold water, soaking the rag. I ring it out then place it on top of the boys burning, fire hot brow. I quickly get sheets and place them over the boy. Seeing as this was the common cold. I knew just how to help him. I was studying to become a nurse and I am rather glad that my skills are coming in handy now.

I grab some herbs that will help a fever and mush them into a mixture. I let the boy swallow the remedy and his breathing steadys out. I change the rag so it is colder for the boy.

After looking at my handy work I see eyes staring at me. Why are they-? Oh no, they don’t know about this kind of medicine yet in this time period. Oh boy, that's going to be a fun one to explain to the king. I’ll definitely be dead by tomorrow, that is if I am lucky! Which I hardly ever have any luck. I sigh.
