(Hazel)
I couldn't bare to sit down and mope any longer. I got up and quietly unlocked the bathroom door. I could hear my dad snoring. I knew my family was asleep. There hadn't been any action for the last five hours. I figured it would be safe to go upstairs. I opened the fridge and took out an Arizona Tea can. It was surprisingly cold upstairs, so I grabbed my jacket and sat down on the couch to watch some TV. Pressing the power button was my first mistake because when the TV turned on, it was the government getting ready to execute the chosen ones. I turned off the TV and couldn't take it any longer.
There was only one person that could help me at the moment. There was only one person who knew what I was going through. It wasn't my mom, my dad, or Jared. They were all sound asleep and it was going to stay that way. The phone began to ring and seconds later, Colby answered.
"I need help."
"Well I guess so....yeah...okay....are you coming soon?
"Okay good.
"Thank you so much.
"Yes, yes I'm fine.
''Thank you.
''Bye.
Colby made me feel so much better. He understood what it was like to have someone get chosen. His dad got chosen a few years back when he and I first started dating. We were still apart, but he understood me and he always would.
I got up and walked over to my bedroom. I was in a funk. I sat down on my computer chair and started writing. I was bored and sad, what more was there to do? I've always loved writing. It's always been an outlet for me. I imagined writing to Lacey--if I could speak to her just one last time, what I woud say. It took me half an hour to write, and by that time, there was a knock on my bedroom window.
I placed the white lined paper inside an envelope and sealed it. Taking a purple pen, I signed my name on the front of the envelope. I got up and opened the window for the boy outside.
