The Mall

Jumping out of bed in my favorite fluffy paints I stretch out my arms and twirl around my colorful blue room with a wide grin.

Today I'm going to hang out with my best friend in the whole wide world, and it's my thirteenth birthday! I'm so excited to see her, even though we see each other every day at school, and it's only Saturday.

I walk to my dresser and pull out my outfit for today. A black and white Cami dress that fits me perfectly along with matching black flats.

Before I put my clothes on I look down to my dresser and grab my brush, I brush out my long curly blond hair until it looks perfect.

I turn around to look at myself in the mirror and actually like what I see. I grin and turn and strip my fluffy paints off along with my shirt.

I slip on my dress and pull my flats on, I then go to my closet and open up my makeup set with all my eye shadow and clear lip gloss.

I decide to go for a really cute natural look, light mascara, and some lip gloss. After getting ready and liking what I see in the mirror I head outside and start walking to the mall.

Since I have nothing better to do I start thinking about Haylee.

Me and Haylee have been friends since diapers, and we've always done things together. I honestly can't think of a time where we weren't doing something together.

Anyways, me and Haylee always go to the mall every Friday after school and just hang out and talk. We go to Starbucks and order the same drink every time, I would get a Chai Latte and she would get an Iced White Chocolate Mocha.

We sit at the table with the window looking out of the store, and we talk about the most random things, we sometimes point out cute boys, girls outfits that we thought were cute, and we always share about how our day went.

I'm so excited about this time because now I'm older! I don't really know why, but I feel more mature and I like that feeling.

Once I got to the mall I texted Haylee that I'm here and I'll meet her at our usual seat at Starbucks. When I get there I order my usual, sit down, and wait.

She didn't respond but I'm not worried, so I just sit and play some games on my phone till she gets here.

"Hey."

"Oh, hey! what took you so long?"

Haylee doesn't respond to me, she just sits down with her drink and it's not till I see that she ordered a different drink that I could sense that something was off, it was almost like a light switch had turned off and she was a completely different person.

Instead of her usual bright vibrant clothes she had on neutral trendy clothes on, and red lipstick.

I'm normally really shy, but not around her, except this time. So I just sat there, and looked around like a lost puppy with no friends.

"Hey, Haylee. Is something wrong?"

She just stares at me and burst into laughter.

"Um yeah, you're the problem, you're not cool enough to hang out with me anymore. I've found new better friends. So you can leave me alone you worthies piece of crap."

At first, I think it's a joke until I see other kids my age come up with sparkly shoes and colorful lips walking directly to Haylee completely ignoring me.

The other kids our age go up to Haylee and hug her. They then turn to look at me. I get really self-conscious and look down at them through my thick eyelashes.

"Um Haylee, is this nobody with you?"

"Haha, no. She just a loser that I'm trying to get rid of."

Her new friends nod their heads and yank my drink out of my hand and dump it all on top of my head soaking my dress.

"Nooo! This is my favorite dress!"

I gasp and look to see Haylee laughing and pointing at me with her new friends.

"Oh no, your favorite dress. What will you ever do without it." Haylee's friends laugh at me.

I look down with tears in my eyes then get up and run out of the store to the nearest bathroom.

I throw open the bathroom door and lock myself in the stall crying silently to myself until the mall closed.

And to this day, I can still hear their laughter.
