Kate slowly drags her feet against the hardwood floor going towards the back door. Within a few seconds Kate is finally there. With shaky hands she turns the handle. Kate holds her breath waiting for the smell of alcohol to hit her nose. But this time was different. He doesn't come running down the stairs. He doesn't slap her across her already bruised face. He doesn't yell at Kate.

Kate slowly opens the door she steps her left foot out first. Then her right. Kate finds her feet walking into the forest connecting to the backyard. Kate is in her own world, not paying any attention to her surroundings.

Kate doesn't look back as she submerges herself into the gloomy forest. The adrenalin leaves her body so that she feels the need to look back. Kate became scared. She slowly turns her body to the small house that she grew up in, she sees the door still open from her leaving. she forgot to close the door. Kate sees the man she used to call her father standing in the doorway. He is staring straight at her with pain and sadness clear in his dark eyes. Kate thinks to herself that the emotion is fake and he's just trying to get her to go back with him. He never shows this type of emotion.

She turned her whole body toward the forest and runs as fast as she can. her heart beating a thousand miles per hour. She doesn't turn back. All she can hear is the leaves crunching beneath her bare feet, and her breath becoming horse. And the sound of her father running after her screaming her name. begging her to come back to the house with him.

Kate run's through the forest for what seemed like hours. her feet burning and pierced with thorns. But Kate is too determined to stop and take them out of her feet and catch her breath. she runs until she sees the northern part of town across the forest. Meaning that Kate has ran for two miles across the edge of the forest. she sees the old abandoned town and stops running. Kate look's back to see nothing but the trees and logs in the forest. She listens to hear for Mason, to make sure he's really gone and that he didn't follow her this far.

Kate doesn't hear anything so she closes her eyes and holds her hand to her chest. She stays like that for a while to catch her breath. She opens her eyes and has a wide smile plastered on her face. But that didn't last long. Kate turned around only to see him. Her father standing no further than a few feet away from her, But what scares her the most is that he has a gun in his hands.

Mason has a dead look on his face when he lifts the gun up and points it straight in between Kate's eyes.

"Why did you leave me? Do you not love me anymore?" Mason said with pain in his dark eyes.

All Kate could do was stand there and stare at him. her feet were planted on the hard black worn-out pavement. She stares at him with unshed tears in her eyes. A small quiet sob leaving her mouth.

"No, don't cry. I'm not going to hurt you." Mason says to try and calm her.

Kate has no words, all she could do was stare at him. He started slowly walking towards her and he took off his jacket, his face still holds the dead look on his bearded face. Kate puts her hands up and starts to back away. Her back ends up hitting the side of an old building.
