Loki was more than displeased that his father had made him stay with the Avengers.

It was the worst punishment possible. The Avengers hated him. His brother would constantly overshadow him.

At least in a jail cell nobody would bother him.

Thor landed in the Avengers' tower with a large crash. If Loki had had his powers, that journey could have been a lot smoother. Not that anybody would have noticed that.

All the Avengers rushed into the room.

Upon seeing him, Romanoff pulled out her guns, Stark posed to go get his suit, Rogers got into a defensive position, Barton pulled out his bow and aimed an arrow, and Banner just waited in case "code green" was needed. Hatred radiated off them in waves.

Loki's eyes were drawn to the new figure, messy black hair that stuck up, wearing an orange shirt that said CHB. Where had Loki heard that before?

The 18-ish boy was holding a three foot Celestial Bronze sword. Loki gulped. He looked like he knew how to use it and Celestial Bronze could actually kill Loki.

Then Loki met the boy's sea green eyes. They were shattered, far more than Loki had ever seen. It looked as if the boy had been to hell and back and seen everyone he loved die.

They were regretful and guilty too. Perhaps the second think actually happened.

"What the h..." Stark paused for some reason. "What in the world is Loki doing here?" Thankfully, the boy touched something to the top of his sword, and it transformed into a pen. Anaklusmos, the legendary sword. Who was its current bearer?

Thor scowled unhappily. "Father had decreed Loki spend time with us as penance. Do not worry, he is stripped of his powers."

Loki rolled his eyes. "As if I'd need them." Gods, one would think someone would be at least a bit appreciative of spending time with their brother.

The room descended into yelling. "Percy Jackson," the boy said smoothly, stepping forward to shake Loki's hand, effectively shutting up the other Avengers.

Loki shook it, glancing at the boy before snorting, "So, what, they're so desperate they're recruiting 18 year old boys. Mortals, with no powers as well."

Percy smirked, as if he knew something funny about that statement that Loki didn't. "I'm 17 tomorrow, you're a year off."

What?? 17-year olds in the Avengers?

Before Loki could reply, Stark cut in. "Oh my god! Your birthday is tomorrow! Why didn't you tell us earlier! We need to have a party!"

Loki sighed as Percy winced. Winced? Why would someone dislike their own birthday?

"Tony, I don't want a party."

"Why not?" Iron Man complained.

Percy shifted slightly. "A lot happened last year on my birthday. A lot of my friends and family died. It was also the day my girlfriend and I officially became a couple."

Now, Loki had heard this somewhere before. He was sure of it. Where?

"You have a girlfriend?" Stark yelled again.

Percy rocked quietly. Tears gathered in his eyes. "She's dead," he whispered softly.

Loki felt slightly bad for the boy, yep he had seen her die and probably more too.

Stark immediately shut up, much to Loki's gratification. "I'm sorry."

Percy shrugged. "It's fine. She deserves to be remembered." Loki noticed Thor hastily wiping his eyes. So his brother knew the story.

Surprisingly, it was Natasha who asked, "What was her name?"

Percy gave her a teary smile. "Annabeth Chase. My fiancee." Tony sucked in a sharp breath. "She had honey blond hair, and grey eyes that would twinkle as she yelled at me for doing something stupid again. She was super intelligent and an amazing architect. She was scary though. If you pissed her off, she wouldn't hesitate to kick your podex."

Podex. Why did he use the Latin term?

Percy shivered, probably remembering some specific memory.

"She sounds amazing," Natasha grinned. "Someone I would like to know."

Percy nodded.

"You're the one that attacked New York City then?" Percy asked Loki with a small smile, changing the subject.

Loki hid his wince with a calculating smile. "Yeah, blew up NYC, tried to take over the world, stuff like that."

The boy grinned lightly. "Hey, at least you weren't trying to wipe out the human race."

"Was that where you got... PTSD?" Steve asked quietly, hesitant to say PTSD because Loki was in the room. "Fighting off whoever that was?"

The boy had PTSD. Explained part of why his eyes were so broken. They were too broken for just PTSD though. Something else had happened.

Percy shrugged uncomfortably. "Naw, that was the first one. I only suffered from minor sleep deprivation after that one. And a lack of trust, but that's off topic."
Two wars! Loki, much to his surprise, was instantly sympathetic. But jealous. Probably another big head like Thor and Stark.

Gets all the attention all the time.

"A lot of good people died though," Percy said softly, eyes far away. "Camp..." the boy flinched at the word. "Where we stayed, it was like half-empty, haunting. All the places where the missing kids were, you saw. A lot of kids left camp just to get away from the memories. I'm no more a hero than the next guy. The heroes are those who died."

So not a big head. And young, too. Loki was starting to see why Percy was on the Avengers.

"Kids? Camp?" Steve asked sharply.

Loki could tell the boy had reached the end of his tolerance for questions.

"Never mind." He said sharply. "Why don't we watch Frozen or something?"

"Frozen?" my brother asked annoyingly.

Percy smiled softly. "It's the best movie ever. This girl with ice powers freezes everything! I showed it to a couple of my friends and...." he trailed off. "Nevermind. Let's just see the movie." (A/N what I was going to say was Jason, Piper, and Leo broke the movie screen because they thought it was Khione.)

Bad memories? Why would bringing up friends make him seize up? PTSD? But unless they were dead...

The movie was very typically mortal. Worse though, were the songs. Stark bawled out the lyrics as loud as possible.

Loki noticed that Percy was crying quietly, though he hid it well. When that deranged mortal song, Love is an open door, who thought of that foolish idea - love breaks hearts, he mouthed all the words, crying too hard too speak.

Was this about his dead fiancee?

"Why are you crying?" Loki asked quietly, slightly worried for the one person in the entire tower who had been nice to him.

The Avengers paused the movie and looked at their new member with a frown. "Perseus, what's wrong?" Thor boomed. He gave Loki a scary look. "If you did anything, brother..." The dumb god can't even figure out he's heartbroken.

Percy looked up, his eyes red and bloodshot. "Nothing. Let's just finish the movie." His voice cracked.

He sat in silence for the rest of the movie. Loki sympathized with Elsa. Suppressed, restricted, looked down upon for being different...

The Avengers retired to their rooms after dinner. Loki got the one across from Percy, much to his displeasure, mixed with excitement.

The new Avenger was a mysterious person indeed. He hid many, many secrets. Maybe this boy was the key.
