The Avengers were sitting around, lounging on a couch, when JARVIS rang the alarm.
They jumped up, everyone suiting up.
Percy wore Greek armour, the Avengers their usual. (Everything had been returned to normal after the prank.)
Loki, however, didn't have a weapon.
The Avengers were arguing over it when Percy slipped the ring of his left ring finger.
"Here," he said, offering it to Loki.
The god took it and twisted it, letting the drakon bone sword appear.
The Avengers stopped arguing.
"This was hers, wasn't it?" Loki asked quietly.
Percy nodded.
"I shouldn't... this..." Loki tried to refuse the weapon, but Percy shook his head.
"I think she would want you to use it," he told Loki.
Nobody argued.
They walked onto the battlefield together, confidently. Percy at the front, Steve and Tony together behind him, then Thor and Loki, then Clint and Natasha, and finally Bruce, ready to go Code Green.
Rows of monsters appeared, aliens intermingled. Thankfully the Celestial Bronze weapons could hurt the aliens.
Percy stepped forward, summoning a huge hurricane that swirled around him. He fought smoothly, though it was obvious to anyone watching that he was used to somebody guarding his back.
Thor and Loki worked together as they had since they were really little, any enmity with each other put aside for the battle.
Clint and Natasha... well the two spies danced around each other like, well, spies.
Tony and Steve fought back to back, though Toiny occasionally flew and blasted flying monsters.
Despite this, they were slowly overwhelmed. Percy, Thor, and Loki combined, and their powers swirled together - Percy would soak a large area and then Thor would electrocute it.
Percy stabbed an empousa, kicked a dracanae, and whirled to slash a hellhound. Stabbed another dracanae, cut a empousa.
Loki's magic killed a hellhound that almost pounced on Percy from behind.
Percy couldn't even say thank you, too busy fighting. He felt like he fought for hours, yet the eight of them barely made a dent in the large monster hoard.
A sword came flying at Percy from behind. He dodged it, but as a result a dracanae got in a lucky cut on his forearm.
Percy was starting to tire, and it showed as he became more sloppy. Even the two gods were feeling the affects of the fighting.
Percy whirled again, barely avoiding the sword to the gut. But from behind, a Cyclops stabbed moved to stab Percy. It was something he couldn't avoid.
The sword inched closer. In that time Percy decapitated two empousa and another Cyclops but it didn't matter.
Suddenly the blade was knocked aside by Loki's body. Percy turned with horror to see the Cyclops slide it's sword out of his gut.
Percy's vision exploded, and every monster within a fifty meter radius exploded.
"Loki," Percy whispered.
The god clutched his gut, doubling over. "Percy," he rasped, "Thank you for... turning my life... from... dark...ness....... Tell... Thor... I love.. Him."
His green eyes died, looking like Annabeth's when her eyes turned lifeless.
Percy couldn't see, couldn't hear, couldn't think.
He could only manage one coherent thought: Tartarus.
The primordial was sitting smugly on the other side of the battlefield. He saw Percy looking his way and grinned. "Come to die, huh?"
The comment did it. Percy screamed, and his rage exploded outwards, killing every monster on the battlefield.
His friends stopped in shock and watched Percy stalk up to the primordial, every movement with the grace of a cat.
Tartarus smirked evilly. "Didn't like your friend dying, huh?"
Percy stepped up to the god. "Did I ever tell you my fatal flaw?"
Tartarus shrugged. "It's pride, like most demigods, isn't it?"
"No," Percy whispered quietly. "It's loyalty."
Tartarus paled.
"Athena once said I would sacrifice the world to save a friend, that I could destroy the planet in my anger. I think I understand that now."
Percy attacked Tartarus faster than the human eye could see. Tartarus could barely block the sword.
Percy fought faster and faster, untamable as the sea from which he was born.
Tartarus's sword was knocked out of his hand by the demigod.
The primordial shuddered in fear as Percy pointed his blade at his heart.
"Goodbye, and sweet nightmares," Percy whispered, plunging the blade through Tartartus's heart, using the water inside to rip his body to shreds.
Percy collapsed.
No! No! No... this can't be happening.
Another friend dead.
Family dead.
All for what? For me? For the world?
No, no, no nononono Loki can't be dead.
"His heart to be broken by his friend."
No no! It wasn't supposed to happen this way. Nobody was supposed to die.
Percy's vision blackened. He cried out in anguish and fainted completely.
