I watched as Luna and Bolton crossed the dirt plain back to us, and my heart was beating so hard I could feel it in every last part of my body. The fear of not being able to get the help we needed was enough to make the simple beat into what felt like a drum that echoed throughout my entire mind. I looked at Kaden and he looked sad and distracted and I knew he was thinking of Cleo and my heart hurt for him, the only loved one he had make it through the attack was his little brother, who he thought at least was young enough where this would just be a nightmare he only remembered in bits and pieces and I secretly hoped that he would have the blessing of not remembering any of it at all.
"They are ready to speak with you." Luna said as they got closer waving us to follow them back the way they came.
We crossed the plain to the mound of dirt and like I thought I did not see no door or opening to walk through, and in that same moment I was pondering that thought Bolton waved his hand and an entry way formed in the dirt leading deep into the ground itself. It was a world hidden within a world and it was nothing I could even imagine. There was a giant open space within the dirt mound with huts made out of dirt and rocks. We walked past the huts that I was amazed as I looked at them and the detail, they all had, they look like sandcastles but bigger.
We walked to a room where there was a big round table made from a giant flat rock, with matching chairs. Two men sat opposite of the table when we walked in, one had brown hair and matching brown eyes, he was Masa, Bolton and Lunas grandfather. The other a blonde with blues eyes and they call him Darren, and they looked at us with that expression that we was not what they were expecting, for they probably were hoping for an elder or two from our village, but as they were told our village and most of our elders died. It didn't matter to me if I was not what they were expecting for all I wanted was there help for our people and help for their people.
"Hello, I was sent by Lola of the Crystal water village in hopes of getting your help to not only protect our next water village, for we took a lot of injuries and there was a lot of deaths. If helping us is not the only reason to do this there you have to remember after us the fire king will come here and then you will have to fight alone, and none of us are going to survive fighting alone." I said sadly knowing all I said is true, and with hopes that they will believe and help us.
"It's not that we do not feel for your position, it's just that we also do not believe in war. If the fire king is attacking, he has not attacked any earth villages, and we feel that to send you back with our warriors will only give him a reason to attack us. We all talked about it and voted on it. We are sorry and any of your people are welcome to settle with us, but we cannot help in a war that we do not believe in." Masa said sounded sad about their choice, but it did not matter they were not going to help, and they rest of our nation were going to have to fight and die alone.
"I don't understand the king will not just stop with us and our people, you can't just send us back with no help." I said with panic entering my voice.
"Grandpa you cannot refuse them help they need us, and the fire king will come this way when they are done with killing all the water villages. Just because there never been a war among the elementals does not mean that there will not be one now. This is our duty as the goddess's children. We must help them." Bolton replied with anger filling his voice.
"Son this is not the place and the elders already voted, I'm sorry there is nothing we can do. I myself would agree with you but it's not just my choice and they voted and there is nothing more I can do but wish them luck and press upon them to just come here and stay if the fire kingdom in deed does not come here than they would be safe, and if he does than we can all fight together. Other than that, I don't think the elders are going to change their minds." Masa said as he and the other elder got up bowed a little and walked out anther door leaving us there with nothing more than our sadness and our anger.
