The music was way too loud.
That was the only thought that occupied your mind. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn't drown out the sound of the bass blasting from those speakers. Not to mention, the screams and laughs from everyone around you made your growing headache another unsolvable issue.
You saw a back door, hopefully leading to a backyard. You didn't know who's house this was, or who anyone here was either. All that really mattered right now was getting your lungs some fresh air.
You walked over to the door, pushing your way through the crowd. As soon as you walked out, relief filled your senses. You didn't have a car yourself to go home and didn't feel like going to find your friend who drove you. You sighed, not noticing the male leaning against the house next to you.
"Not very pleasant, is it?" You looked over at him, his hair seemed to shine in the moonlight.
"Nope, not really." The alcohol in your system was starting to ease in, letting your words fall out without a filter. "Are you here alone too? You seem like a really good date." Despite that, the silver-haired boy laughed softly.
"No, I drove a friend here. You can't help losing them in the crowd, right?" His eyes then fell upon yours. They were soft yet endearing in every way. You felt yourself simply staring into his eyes for a few minutes before slurring your words again.
"Ya' know... your eyes are really pretty." And you noticed the birthmark under his eye too, "even your little freckle, right here." You reached your hand out to poke it and left your finger there. He giggled again, leaning slightly into your hand as your palm rest against his cheek.
"You wanna go up to the rooftop? I might know a way up." He smiled, grabbing your hand from his cheek and lacing your fingers together.
"O-Oh...sure." You let him pull you along until he found a ladder by the side of the house. He took the first two steps and nodded to you, signaling you could come up too.
You hastily took each step until you reached the roof with him, sitting side by side. You cleared your throat, hoping to ease the tension in the air.
The silver-haired boy laid back onto the roof, looking up into the dark sky, almost like he belonged there in that moment. "The stars are pretty tonight, are they not?" You hummed in response, agreeing with him. "I don't think I ever caught your name? I'm Sugawara, Sugawara Koushi." He smiled again. Your stomach did a little flip as his birthmark crinkled under his eye slightly.
"(l/n) (y/n)," his smile grew, as he gently grabbed your shoulder, pulling you to lay back onto the roof next to him. "Your eyes are really pretty Sugawara, just like you. Did I already mention that? I think I might've..." You whisper to him, totally unafraid of him despite practically being strangers to each other.
"Yep," he spoke, softly popping his lips on the last letter. "But I could say the same about you (l/n)." He turned onto his side, facing you directly.
"You could?" You turned onto your side as well, letting yourself relax as your past headache seemed to disappear.
"Hm, let's see." He took a breath, thinking for a second. "Well, the way you look into my eyes without hesitation, how your smile seems like it could warm anyone's heart, and how you trusted me instantly right after meeting me. I'd say that all makes you beautiful. But..." He frowned 'booping' your nose. "You should really be more careful with strangers."
"But you're fine Suga, you're not dangerous." He smiled at the little nickname you'd given him. His smile soon gained a bit of seriousness to it though.
"Are you sure about that?" He asked, placing a hand on your cheek. He then propped his head up with his free elbow. "I'd love to see you try to help yourself when anyone does this."
Then suddenly, without any notice, he leaned in and kissed you softly. At first, his soft lips subtly pressed into yours, seemingly nervous. But, as a few seconds passed, he leaned in as you kissed him back slowly. His arm that was holding your cheek previously was now just resting on your hip, ever-so-carefully pulling you closer to him. He could still taste the sour taste of wine on your lips, it was subtle but it was there.
Then another second went by, and another, and another. Time seemed to fly by when you were with that damned silver-haired boy.
You pulled away, now out of air and slightly exhausted. "Suga?" You asked, surprised that this stranger made your heart flutter.
Almost the same as you, the sugar-sweet boy that had kissed you sat up in shock, softly laughing like he had been almost the entire night. "Yes?"
"Do you wanna get out of here and hang out elsewhere?"
Now that was something Sugawara Koushi didn't expect.
"Are you asking me out?" Suga turned to you grinning from ear to ear as you sat up next to him.
"And what if I am, Sugar?"
"Ah, more nicknames I see?"
"Don't act like you don't like them! I saw you smiling!"
Suga giggled once again, happy that you noticed so many small things about him. "Ok cutie, whatever you want."
His nicknames were different than yours though, you were sure of that. A shade of pink dusted your cheeks as you both crawled over to the ladder, climbing down to the ground.
After you two had found his car, you got in, and Sugawara spoke up again. "So," you peeked up at him, intrigued. "Wanna go for some ice cream?" You nodded quickly, the sweet treat sounded good to you right about now.
Immediately once the car was started, you two got to talking about yourselves. It concerned you how similar you two could get like you were designed to meet.
"Ah, it looks like we're here." He stopped the car, parking it and shutting it off. Both of you got out and walked into the small shop. You hadn't been here, but you figured that Sugawara had, he was the one who drove after all. After both of you ordered and received what you wanted from the employee, you walked outside and sat on a small bench.
"Isn't it really pretty?" You couldn't help but again admire the stars in the sky, they never seemed to shine as brightly as they did that night.
"What, you mean me?" Sugawara smirked as you lightly punched his shoulder. "Hey, you said it yourself!" You laughed together, enjoying the moment.
"Hey, Sugawara?" You turned to him on the bench.
"Koushi."
"What?"
"Call me Koushi. I bet it sounds nicer coming from your mouth." His lips slightly curled upwards.
"Ok, Koushi." His smile grew as he placed an arm around your shoulder. "Do you wanna hang out after this too?"
"Isn't it a bit of a stretch for an all-nighter out on the town?"
"No, I mean I wanna see you again after today."
"Ah," he nodded, "I would love that."
And just as he had before, he leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to your lips. But this time, there was absolutely no sign of hesitation when you kissed him back.
