Ash sipped lazily from a blood bag, not having much of an appetite while Rique sat next to her scarfing down a triple patty stacked burger from a place they passed by on the way home. His appetite had increased since his turning and Ash watched as the burger dripped blood when he took a bit, her human self would have grimaced but in this form she didn't really care. She sighed, looking over to the set of cameras in front of them, Fiona was having a slumber party with a few friends and now it looked like they were playing with a Ouija board. The lights were off and only a few candles lit up the room, while the girl laid hands on the board piece and proceeded to speak. "You ever play with one of those before?" Rique spoke up, grabbing a napkin to wipe his face. Ash shook her head. "I don't think I have to now.. the dead come alive without me asking." An image of Scarlett holding onto her for dear life fluttered into her mind. How could she be alive? She saw her die.

"Ya, know, I'm a little shocked by it too. But I wouldn't worry about Scar watching Oriel. She doesn't have a record and.."

"No." Ash shook her head once more. "She's not a good person, Rique. You remember how she was after.."

"Cheating doesn't really equate to being dangerous. Just because she can't keep her pussy off people doesn't mean.."

"It's way more than that." Ash cut him off again and got up from the table and headed out of the security room. The hallway was empty and she leaned against the wall, closing her eyes. Scarlett was amazing. She was sweet, cute and just carried an inviting aura about her. A beauty queen of sorts but Ash always fell for those types of women. Their friendship was scattered and only full of flirting but Scarlett did make an effort to be there for her and she made their relationship seem great, like it wasn't lacking anything at all. A few more years and Ash would have definitely gotten on one knee for her.

Ash had busied herself with unpacking her belongings onto her bunk, a bit nervous for what their first day of training was like but she knew she'd get through it. Whether in one piece or four, she'd make it through. A rather loud sigh, pulled her from her thoughts and she looked over to a see a gorgeous, curly redhead placing her duffel bag onto her chosen bunk, right across from hers. "Oh, hey." The woman smiled and offered her hand. "Looks like we're roomies." She winked. "I'm Scarlett, what's your name?"

"Ash, just Ash." Ash had nodded, her eyes wandering her face over and over again. She didn't want to tear her eyes away just yet. "Ok, just Ash." She grinned.

"You ready for training in a few?"

Ash sighed, shrugging. "As ready as I'll ever be."

"What? Don't tell me this is your first rodeo?"

Ash blushed softly. "It's not actually."

"Oh hell yea, well get ready to kick some ass. Those boys are already calling us out." Scarlett offered her fist. "We got this." Ash chuckled softly bumping her fist and watched as Scarlett continued to set up her bed. For once, she could feel her nerves slowly going away. Scarlett had made her feel better then but that wasn't the only time.

They were back at home after being deployed for a few years and Ash had just found out her girlfriend had cheated and she ended up on Scarlett's doorstep, her bags in hand. Scarlett came running out. "Hey, I'm so sorry." She hopped up to hug her tight and Ash blinked tears away, hugging her back tight. "You deserve so much better than that." Scarlett released her and their eyes met in a deep stare. Scarlett moved a hand to wipe Ash's tears away and Ash leaned in to close the gap between them and their lips met. Sorrow and a hunger for her friend she hadn't known before seemed to ignite within her when she felt the comfort she offered her. So subtle and dear, Ash hadn't felt anything like it before. Her previous girlfriend was always coarse and hard, Scarlett was the complete opposite. From that day forward they were inseparable. Ash felt like she had finally found the one. They hung out when they could when off work and when they were deployed together, they snuck into each other's beds or made sure they ended up on the same team for a mission. They cared for each other so much or at least Ash cared for her.. It wasn't until they went home did she realize the lie she was living in.
