"No! I beg you..... Please don't do this to them! You can do whatever you want to but to me... Not to them please!" I screamed. Suddenly I heard two gunshots.
"Noooooo!" was the only thing that managed to come out of my mouth. I was screaming and panting until i felt myself being shaken vigorously.

"Avuuu diiii! Avu diii! Calm down! I am here only! Calm down!" Jai told avneet rubbing her back to calm her down. He had rushed to her room when he heard her screaming only to find her sweating and panting out of fear. Seems like she's had a bad dream.
"Now tell me what happened? Did you see a bad dream?" Avu nods hiding her head in jai's chest as he side-hugged her to provide her comfort.
"Tha.... That same old bad dream Jaii..... I can't ju... Just take this anymore. That day still haunts me.... Tha... That..... That dayy.... I.... I... Lo... Lost my everything that day" Avu spoke in between sobs.
"No dii.... You didn't loose everything! Don't say like that! You have me, mom and dad by your side!" Jai tried to console her. The only truth was, he too had lost almost his everything that day. Almost that is. These siblings dreaded that day, 2 years ago, till date.
" Only you by my side, that is. " avneet remarked with a blank face." Why do you always disregard mom and dad like that?" Jai asked his usual question. Avneet never answered this question.
" They never fulfilled the duties of being parents to two kids, never. " Avneet spoke up.
Jai knew the answer very well, that is why he never forced avneet to answer that question. This time he was startled hearing the answer. He decided not to bring it up and he changes the topic.
" Acha dii... Forget all of this..... Jaldi uth ke ready ho jaao aaj mera first day hai university ka.... Pleasee" Jai said successfully diverting avu's mind.
"Lekin abhi mai aadha ghanta aur so sakti huu" ranted avu. She always hated getting up in the morning.
Who doesn't?
"Diiii yaar ho jaao na readyy.... Aren't you excited? Aapka bhi toh first day hai"
"Second year ka first day hai jaii.... Tu second year tak pohonch toh.... Pata chal jayega kitni excitement hoti hai 🙄" badass avneet remarked and avu giggled.
Badass avneet looked exactly like avneet. Just that she wore a black jacket and black shades over whatever avu's ootd would be so as to show she was the badass one. Avneet calls her 'Avni' differentiating herself from her alter ego.
This is avu's imagination! Not mine! I swear!
"You're talking with that imaginary friend of yours again, aren't you?" jai said after watching avu giggle to herself.
"I obviously will have to.... Aur koi friends hai hi khn mere? 😂" Avu said.
"Hn hn.... University aapki hai aur vahan aapse zayada friends toh mere hain🙄" jai said making avneet gag.
"Jai you know how much I hate socializing, i have anu and ash to help me with my work and i am fine by it" Avneet stated.
"They consider you as their best friend aur aap ho ki 'i have them to help me'" jai said imitating her.
"Can you please not start with this again jai!" Avni said and avu hummed.
"Dii will you stop it please? Ab jaao jaake ready ho!" jai said as he pulled her from her bed and pushed her in the washroom throwing in her towel and the outfit she selected last night.
"don't take hours to have a bath!" Jai shouted only to hear a faint 'whatever' from his sister. He rolled his eyes and went away to his room to get ready.

If there’s one thing that no 19 year old wants to see in the dean's office, it's their mom. Yet here we are- me, my mom, the dean and a lady, she's pretty, looks like she's in her 20's. I have never seen her before, here in this college. And oh yes! There stands Avni, right behind the dean, her arms crossed. The only good thing? No one can see her. She's MY imagination.
Ooh! Getting back to the point.
I am sitting in the dean's office with my mom and an unknown lady who is giving me a creepy smile! What a nightmare!
They're all reading over my reports from the second marking period and i can see my mom is clearly pissed off. I feel like slinking in my seat and crawling out of this room while my mom is distracted.
Even if i consider the point for a split second, i will surely not be able to make it out of the room alive. Besides, my mom is gonna make sure i am not able to go anywhere again and she reminds me of this by grabbing my arm while she is reading what her beloved daughter has done.
"Mrs. Nandra, seems like Avneet is not studying for her internals lately. She's not even paying attention in the class. Her professors have noted the decline in the quality of her work from the last cycle of internals" the dean said.
"they have noted?" my mom asks as she receives a nod and a bunch of actual notes by my teachers from the dean.
"haan haan dean ke bachche! Apne college ke professors ki education qualification dekhi hai kabhi jo unse notes likhwa ke laaya hai?!" Avni remarked and i glared at her as i suppressed a giggle. She just shrugged. Oh god! Even she can be such a pain in the arse sometimes.
"I will make sure avneet studies well so that this doesn't happen in the next cycle of internals" my mom said. Why is she talking about me like i am not there? Not that i hate it! Keep it up Mrs Nandra, go on like this!
"ooh! Looks like someone's worried about what their only daughter scores! FOR THE FIRST TIME!" Avni mocks. Honestly, she's right. She never gave a damn. Not at school, not here ever! But this time she looks clearly pissed off as i can see her cheeks turning red with anger. I am so dead.
I just sit there, picking my nails. Maybe i could paint them nude when i get home. I will match it with Anu and ashnu.
Just then, that unknown lady speaks up.....
In fairyland.... (okay that was lame but anyways)
Angie is continuously knocking destiny's door.
F:ahh open up Destinyyy!!
D:what happened? Why so hasty? Are you done with the syllabus of the test tomorrow at the Magic school of Fairy dust?
F: ahh! My studies are haywire don't talk about them... You toh got graduated years ago!
D: oi! I am destiny okay?
F: fine fine whatever! But look at this! What the fu*k are you doing dude?
D: hey! Language! (Angie rolls her eyes) I can literally hear you rolling your eyes! Stop rolling them so hard! (she earns another glare) okay fine whatever you want to talk about.
F: Look. At. Avneet
D: again?
F: right now!
D: okay whatever.
