"Avu dii come back downstairs soon!" Jai shouted as he saw Avneet going up to the terrace. She always went there when she needed peace and solace. That was her language. What she actually did was just, pure overthinking.

She went upstairs and sat down on the sill, dangling her legs down, like they did on the cliff. Just that this time it wasn't the cliff, she was alone and instead of the tea gardens, there was a cityscape. She was weirdly obsessed with those skylines.

This was the first time she had gone to the cliff in 2 years after that incident. Her legs were shaking with each step she took towards it. But the cliff she dreaded wasn't that bad afterall. You just have to be with the right person.

This time, something else was different too. She wasn't overthinking this time. She was reminiscing her moments spent with siddharth. His laughter, his nagging, his long, Bollywood inspired lectures, and most of all, his eyes, his deep brown orbs which Avneet was still, weirdly obsessed with.

"I-I was just g-given darkness" She said as tears dwelled her eyes. She couldn't help but cry. She didn't know why but she just wanted to let it all out. One last time. She wanted to loose herself to tears and the cold breeze and cry her heart out before she turned into a completely new person. One last time.

"If you're given darkness, you'll also be gifted with stars!" Avni said, sitting beside her. Avneet looked at her alternate self. She sometimes couldn't believe it was herself, just in a different perspective. Her alter ego was so optimistic and confident. Unlike her.

She looked up to the sky, the star studded sky.

"Every night I stare at the stars, waiting for some magic to happen, hoping they would open up and absorb me inside them." Avneet said. She was still thinking about siddharth.

"He always asks about me. He wants to know more. But i don't know how to tell him that.... That the sky is my life, the stars are my friends, the moon is my love and the night, its my home. Dark and dull." She let it all out.

"The world will never know what you went through, but believe me, the stars are proud of you." Badass Avneet remarked. She did leave her sarcasm once in a day!

"I feel so..... So empty!"

"you aren't empty, you're filled with pain..."

"What do I do? How do i escape it?"

"Don't escape pain, embrace it, and it will dissolve into your soul!"

Avneet sat there in silence until she felt drowsy. She got up from the sill, took a last look at the breathtaking sky and went downstairs. She could've slept there, her life already was useless, but something inside of her urged her not to do that.

Siddharth stood near his window with a telescope as he gazed at the stars. He often did that when he didn't feel like sleeping. He felt like he was near them when he peered at them through the lens of the telescope.

But today, he wasn't able to focus on anything. Not even his favourite, the stars. There was something that occupied his mind. And probably his heart too.
