10. Chores
This is not how I wanted to spend my Saturday morning.
Cleaning up the house, since we couldn't do it through the week with me at school and the guys at work, we had to do it on the weekends, and because of Roman having to work tomorrow, we had to clean up the house today.
When Roman wants to clean, it's way early in the morning at six a.m. and it drives me and Julien insane.
Music blasted from the radio on the bar that separated the kitchen and living room as I dusted around the TV, Roman and Jul were in the kitchen doing things in there, and Champ lay on the floor watching me dust, I raised an eyebrow at the dog as she watched me.
"How about you come over here and help by using your tail to dust?" I asked Champ as I started to clean the TV screen, Champ just yawned and laid her head down on the floor making me roll my eyes "Or just lay there and watch. Your choice." I wiped the screen down as Roman walked out of the kitchen.
He then looked at me, then to Champ: "After we finish up here, we need to give her a bath outside and let her run around the backyard to dry," he told me as he crossed his arms holding a dish rag: "Listen, about last night Katie, I just don't want to see you hurt. If someone hurt you, I wouldn't be able to handle it."
I shrugged as I sat down with the glass cleaner and rag before giving my brother a small smile: "I know. But, Roman, I hate that you have had to raise me for the past three years and not be able to live your own life. You are twenty-two years old, you should be married or living life as a basketball star, not having to raise your younger sister." I told him and crossed my arms "It makes me feel ..bad."
Roman closed his eyes and shook his head "Katie. I don't regret these past three years," he told me and sat on the couch before nodding his head and motioning for me to sit beside him, which I did, and looked up at him as he put an arm around me: "I didn't make this promise to our parents. I made it to you. I wasn't going to put you off on a family member while I went to school, that isn't me. I wanted to take guardianship because I didn't want anyone else to finish raising you, you are my sister, and believe it or not I do love ya, kid."
"I love you too, I just wish you could have lived your dream." I frowned up at him and he rolled his eyes at me.
"My dream was to become a mechanic. Our parents wanted me to be a basketball star," he said, making me chuckle as he smiled down at me before frowning and sighing, "If you want to date this ... Adam dude, I can't stop you. So, I guess I could act polite the next time you go on a date with him."
Oh great, looks like I have to go out with Adam Saturday now if my brother thinks I truly do like him. To be honest, he is as boring as my Halloween dance date was when I was fourteen.
The one Roman gave a wedgie.
I threw a smile at my brother "I'm happy you can play nice" I told him.
Roman smiled with his head held high before kissing the top of my head and standing up from the couch. He walked to the kitchen and I sighed as I looked at Champ who was smiling at me with her tongue sticking out.
"You're only happy because Roman is going to give you about a hundred treats just so we can give you a bath."
My only reply was a happy bark.
We finished up cleaning in the house and I put Champ's leash on her as I walked her out of the house and to the front where the water hose was, Jul and Roman were in shorts and tennis shoes, while Jul had on a tank top my brother had no shirt on which made me cringe.
