"Well, first I'm going to ask you a question; Do you know about Todoroki's...family." Midnight asked.

"Not much, only that he said that he had three older siblings and that he took me to his Mother's garden. He didn't tell me anything else." You say.

"Okay, I'm going to make this as simple as possible; The royal family...is broken up. And there's been family issues going on for nearly a decade or so and Shoto's been caught in the middle."

"Is his mother..."

"We don't know...but when I can say is that during that time, I was the only one who was close to him."

"Is that so?"

Midnight nods. "I took the role as his mother and raised him like he was my son."

"I had no idea."

Midnight nods. "And, I think you should talk to him. I can tell something is wrong and he won't tell no one."

"Why not?"

"He feels...he feels alone. He's felt like that his whole life."

You gave a nod. "I get it."

"Promise me you won't force it out of him, it's just going to make him close up more."

You gave a nod. "I won't." Midnight smiles and places a kiss on top of your head. "Thank you (y/n), I know he'll open up to you."

An hour later

You walked down the hall towards Todoroki's room. You haven't seen him since the library and you started to get a little worried.

You had a weird feeling in your chest, and something didn't feel right as you knocked on Todoroki's door. "Shoto? May I come in." You asked.

You just heard a small sound behind the door. "Shoto, I'm coming in okay?"

You slowly opened the door and saw Todoroki sitting on his bed by his bed, on the floor, his knees pulled up to his chest. He didn't have his natural nonchalant expression.

He looked sad.

"Shoto, are you okay?" You asked while closing the door behind you.

"Are you tired of me yet?" He asked.

"No, why would you ask something like that." You took a seat on the floor next to him.

"It's because...I'm hard to love."

"No, you're not."

"Then why did this happen?" He asked.

"Why did what happen? Do you want to talk about it?"

After a moment silence goes by.

"Yes."

"What's going on? Why do you think you're hard to love?" You asked.

"When I was five, My...My father...put me through so much...when...I...couldn't do something right he would...he would hit me."

"What would he hit you with?"

"Sometimes with a belt, or with his hand. And when I would cry...he would hit me more until I would be quiet."

You felt your stomach flip. Todoroki lets out a labored breath and tries to blink away his tears. "I have scars on my back and legs, sometimes I would have to wear bandages because my skin would burn if you touched it."

Todoroki grips his arm tight. "It felt like my skin was replaced with hot iron."

"But my mom...she was always there to tend to my bruises."

"What was your mom like?" You asked.

"She was so kind, and caring she was an angel. Her hands were so gentle and soft, like silk. She was from Japan and was human. That's how I'm half vampire. Whenever my father wasn't around, we would sing and dance, and she would read to me. She did whatever she could to protect me."

"But, what happened?"

"He would hurt her...he would do bad things to her...I saw him hit her, he would say awful things to her...One night...I saw him rape her."

You choked on your breath and covered your mouth.

"She said...'It's okay Shoto-kun, just go back to sleep. Mommy's okay' She had so much pain in her eyes...and...it felt like I was slowly losing her."

"My mom, she started to see my father in me...She grown to hate me...she saw him in me...she was so far gone...she took the tea kettle, she grabbed me by my hair and she poured hot water on my face."

Your heart dropped to your stomach. Todoroki started to cry again, you didn't even realize that you were crying yourself.

"It was like my face was melting and it felt like hours when she poured the water on my face. I screamed so loud...and I tried to pry her grip off my hair. The look in her eyes...I could never forget, they were filled with hate."

"My dad came in, and he pulled her off of me, and I just cried and I screamed, I never been in so much pain in my life, I couldn't see out my eye for a while."

"What happened to your mom?"

"He took her somewhere, I don't know where...he never told me...but I want her back...I want my momma back." Todoroki breaks down into large broken sobs.

"I want my momma back! I just want my mom!"

You pulled Todoroki into a hug. You couldn't help but cry too, it was so much to take in.

"He did this to her! He's the reason she's gone! He wants me to be like him, he wants me to be a monster! Who could ever love a monster!? I don't want to be a monster!"

"You're not...and you won't, Shoto please breathe." You say.

"He caused me so much pain! But I can't leave, I have to stay for my mother, I have to stay for her. I couldn't protect her, so I have to stay."

You held him tighter as he sobs. "What did I do...What did I ever do to deserve this?"

"You didn't do a thing."

"I'm the seed of a monster."

"That's not true Shoto, you're the only good thing that came from Endeavor. And he can't break you." You say.

"Then why am I like this? Why am I sitting here crying?"

"Because you've been strong for so long Shoto, sometimes crying is how your body speaks when your voice can't express the pain you feel."

Todoroki wipes his eyes. "I never knew that."

"It's okay to cry Shoto, it's not good to hold in all this pain." You wipe the stray tears from his cheeks.

Todoroki blinks his red watery eyes and lets out a steady breath. "I feel...it feels like there's some sort of relief now."

"That's because you talked about it." You wiped the tears from your own cheeks. "I know it still hurts but you can always talk to me."

Todoroki places a kiss on your cheek. "I love you (y/n)."

"I love you too Shoto."

"Do you need anything?" You asked. "I just want to cuddle you more, would that be okay?" He asked softly.

"Of course it is." Todoroki leans his head on your chest as you lay back against the side of the bed.

You heard Todoroki's breathing softly, alerting that he fell asleep.
