-Nara, if this was a book, I'd be eager for chapter two! – Gabi declared, as Nara ended the narrative.
-It's more like a fanfic, actually – Angie added. They all laughed and she continued – And we'll have a chapter two, right? Haven't you agreed to have a second date?
-Right. We will... - Nara sounded more pessimistic than the other girls expected and all her excitement she used to tell the story drained. – I still don't believe this happened. Why would he want to spend time with me... again?!
-Why not? – Gabi asked with a mix of sweetness and fervor in her voice – You're beautiful and intelligent, you're nice and... well, I guess he clearly enjoys the fact that you're not famous.
-And he's so thoughtful! – Angie complemented, just as passionately as Gabi - Can't you see how worried he is about your well-being in all moments?
They were right. Namjoon was absolutely sweet and caring at all times, even when he freaked out because of a fan and dragged Nara into the kitchen of the restaurant. He was trying, somehow, to protect her. They had a good time together, even if this was just a date with the regular she first expected to meet. Somehow, she was still insecure. In fact, his goodness was suspicious.
As if she could read her friend's mind, Gabi continued.
-Trust me, Nara. There's not a single reason for him not to like you, no matter how unlikely it is that he is a good guy and a famous person and a millionaire.
Angie laughed at the end of Gabi's sentences.
-I've seen many dramas and I actually read some fanfics in which all ends well. I'm sure you can be a couple that will be together!
Nara giggled at how naïve Angie's sentence was, but she was thankful for her encouragement, anyway. Also, the awareness that they could be actually really together was at the same time like a sweet dream and also a beautiful nightmare.
-Being together with someone like him is... bittersweet to me.
-All relationships can be bittersweet – Gabi answered, sounding pretty surely of each of her words – Actually, they all are. There's no such thing as perfection. He might be the best person you've ever dated yet he would still have trouble to meet you or paparazzi to escape from. He might be feeling the same as you. He may see you as the perfect person to date, but in the end he will also have problems to visit you in Brazil, or whatever... No one's perfect and I think it's too soon for you to worry whether you'll work out as a couple or not. Wasn't that your plan before leaving this room to see him?
Nara just nodded, a bit embarrassed.
-You should stick to that same idea of just seeing him as a nice person you will meet, for as long as you can, till you two become something together.
-I wanted to just enjoy the moment when I decided to come here, and...
Nara wasn't so firm in her words, but Gabi completed Nara's idea decisively.
-So, keep doing it. Enjoy each moment you have with him and then you'll see what happens. He likes you, you seem to like him as well, so, now you two just have to enjoy it.
-I'll try to live the present, but I just can't stop thinking about it... and things I didn't want to talk about keep coming to my mind.
-The things you wanted to keep in Brazil? - Nara looked surprised that Gabi knew those things, so both of them looked at Angie, knowing she was the one who couldn't keep her mouth shut. – Keep them there. Don't you have other things to think about while you wait for the next date? Don't you have to write a damn book before going back to Brazil?
Right. She had a whole lot of things to do other than let her insecurities, unsolved matters from the past or anxieties about her future with Namjoon take control of her thoughts.
-All right... - Nara was still impressed by her friend' wise and sensible words – That's what I'll do, starting from now. I'll go to bed because I want to wake up early tomorrow to run. I still haven't run while I'm here and my body misses it. It helps to keep my mind fresh for writing.
-É isso aí, gata! – Gabi cheered as Nara grabbed her pajamas under her pillow – Can I join you? I need to move my body too.
Angie, who had been quietly staring at Gabi, finally moved. She had been watching their conversation with admiration, directed specially towards Gabi. Now she looked woke from her trance.
-Can I join you?
Gabi and Nara looked at each other, showing openness to that.
-Off course, Angie. – Nara answered – and while we stretch, we'll talk about how you can't talk too much about Namjoon and I around there.
Angie's cheeks turned red.
-Ok, I know I might talk too much but just between people I'm friends with. And I'd also never do something that could harm the people I like... or a romance.
-We'll trust you, then! – Gabi and Nara said together.
Gabi was standing in front of Angie and she kissed her hairline.
-I'll go to my own room now!
Angie immediately stoop up and held Gabi's hand.
-And I'll be right back, Nara! – Angie announced – I'll kiss this lovely lady goodnight.
Gabi giggled as she heard those words and lead Angie across the room towards the door.
-I'll enjoy this moment, just like you should be doing, Nara. – Angie said from the door – And I'm hoping we all have a happy ending.
Nara smiled as they left the room. She was quite surprised with the quick change in Angie's attitude. The relationship between Nara's roommate and Gabi seemed clearer and closer now, things settled and felt better for her, even though she seemed so overwhelmed before. Maybe her wish for a happy ending for all of them came not from the romantic stories she liked, but from that very change in her own relationship. In Angie and Gabi's situations, enjoying the moment and hoping for a successful conclusion was the best strategy to deal with the situation. It could work in Nara's and Namjoon's case as well. But what would be a happy ending to those stories?
Nara barely had time to think about it. As her phone buzzed one second after she turned the lights down to sleep.
"Did you get to the dorm? Did Siwon drive you safely? I hope you have a good night."
Nara smiled. It would be hard not to think about a future when the guy she was seeing was this cute.
"Going to bed now, I gotta get up early tomorrow." Nara added a picture of her legs under the covers.
She received back a photo of Joon's reflection on the glass door of a clear music studio. It was still a bit surreal to receive that exclusive content about her idol not from a fansite but from the main source, Kim Namjoon himself. It was also a bit worrying that he was working that late at night. They would go out on tour soon, shouldn't he be resting and preparing for it?
"Working so late?"
"I feel like working this late, when everything's quiet. And I need to work on some things. It'll be better now that I'm inspired by this wonderful night!" He sent along multiple smiling faces.
Don't think about the future, Nara! Stick to the moment, enjoy the present! Nara scolded herself and decided to say goodbye to him. She knew herself, and that was a good decision in order to avoid thinking too much.
