i stood at my locker, just waiting for the bell. i didn't want to walk alone so i waited for the hallway to be mostly empty.

as i stared at my locker someone came up behind me. i'm a relatively tall person, 5'7... to be exact, but this person towered over me... i could feel it.

"hey, curtis." a low and husky voice said, sending chills down my spine.

i recognized the voice. james andrews. most people called him jamie or just andrews. he was a greaser.

i only knew him because him and two- bit got in arguments every once in a while and i was there to break it up. he was a little older... 16 to be exact.

he had blond hair but dark roots and brown eyes. he was tall and muscular but not too stalky.

he was wearing his usual attire... a white shirt, a black leather jacket, and jeans.

he was a greaser that's for sure.

"how's it going, babe?" he asked, chuckling under his breath.

i had to admit he was cute. i had always had a slight crush on him.

sodapop and ponyboy always made fun of me for liking older guys. which didnt make sense cause i grew up with a perfectly fine dad.

but... i guess after he died...yeah... i lacked in the male authority department.

cause i didn't listen to darry.

it might be why i'm attracted to guys like dallas and james.

"it's going..." i said, smiling slightly and shutting my locker. "how bout you jamie?" i asked, turning to him and crossing my arms.

he nodded "quite alright, darling"

he was quite the flirt if you can't tell.

ponyboy came strutting down the hall with johnny. he looked at me and smiled slightly.

'daddy issues.' he mouthed and i just rolled my eyes.

yes, i was a freshman flirting with a junior but it's not that weird.

he put his arm above my head and against the locker, leaning closer to me.

"hey how's your brothers doin?" he asked.

i shrugged "fine, i guess."

he nodded. "alright, sounds cool. that brother of yours still strict? darrel is it? cause if not...i wanna take you to the diner some time..." he shrugged and looked away, trying to play it cool.

i smiled a little but not too much, not trying to seem excited "yeah, sounds alright." i nodded. "call me sometime and we'll talk about it." i said before starting to walk away.

before i got too far i felt a firm grip around my wrist, pulling me back.

"hey. don't walk away from me without at least giving me the number."

his grip hurt to be honest.

i slipped out of it and grabbed the pen out of my pocket. i took his hand and wrote the house number on it.

"i'll see you..." i said quietly before walking away.

i caught up with johnny and pony.

pony was a sophomore and johnny was a junior like jamie... so we all had different classes.

"what was that all about?" ponyboy asked, raising an eyebrow.

"he was just flirting no big deal. i gave him my number..." i said, looking around.

ponyboy laughed and shoved my shoulder. "no wayyyy. darry is gonna kill you, fizz..."

johnny had an uneasy look. "i dunno how i feel about this, fizz. he's a little too old... and reckless."

i rolled my eyes "it's fine. what's the worst that could happen?"

i should've listened to johnny.
