mattia's hands stung from the cold. walking outside in the winter wasn't the most ideal. his nose was cold and starting to get red. kairi's house was luckily one block away.

he was going there to apologize. it had been two weeks and school started again tomorrow. he figured if they made up now school wouldn't be so hard. he hadn't told jenna he was doing this. he knew she wouldn't let him.

soon enough he arrived at kairi's. he stood at the door for at least three minutes before actually knocking. he couldn't bring himself to do it. kairi didn't know he was coming and he was scared he'd be the one to answer. to his luck, his sister answered the door. before mattia could say anything she spoke, "kairi! mattia is at the front door!" she left with the door wide open. mattia stepped in and usually he would walk right to kairi's room, but he had no idea what to do now.

"mattia?" kairi asked as he came down the stairs. he looked startled when he saw mattia standing at his front door. "you just gonna let the house get cold, close the door". kairi had a dirty look on his face, something mattia wasn't used to. "oh um ya," mattia closed the door, "i came here to talk to you." the taller boy said.

"you gonna tell me how disgusting i am again?" mattia could see right through the barrier kairi put up. he was hurt, badly.

"im sorry kai."

"ya, well you should be. you're an ass mattia. i don't even know why i let you in here. you told me from the day i came out to you that you'd protect me. you said you could never imagine being with someone homophobic, let alone being it yourself. i mean what did i ever do to you mattia? nothing." kairis eyes began to water, he clenched his fist as everything faded away. his legs became weak and he was losing his balance.

"kai," mattia paused catching the smaller boy who had fallen into his arms. sobs quickly leaving his mouth. mattia bit his lip, seeing kairi like this hurt, hurt him so bad. he tightened his grip on his hug.

"kairi im so sorry. you don't deserve this, no one does." mattia rested his head on kairi's, his hair was soft on mattia's cold face. but mattia was speechless. he didn't know what words would make kairi ok.

kairi pulled away, pulling his hoodie sleeves over his hand and wiping away the snot from his nose. "y- you should go mattia."

"please kai,"

"mattia go." kairi watched mattia leave and locked the door behind him. he ran to his room, falling onto his bed. he pulled out a coloring book and a few colored pencils he found in his desk drawer.

his vision was blurry and his eyes hurt. the paper underneath him was wet in certain spots his tears had landed on. he quickly slipped into little space and a smile formed onto his face. his problems that big kairi dealt with faded away. he was zoned out completely on the page full of color until his phone rang. it was alvaro.

"hi aloe!" kairi yelled into the phone. alvaro quickly recognized the name, kairi only called him that in little space. "hey kai, whatcha doing?"

"m' drawing. lots of colors aloe." kairi giggled.

"i bet kairi. you wanna hangout with me and ale today?"

"will we get ice cream!" kairi didn't mind that it was cold outside. ice cream was an always must have.

"im sure ale wouldn't mind."

"really!" kairi's smile only grew. "with sprinkles and the plastic red spoons that i can chew on when m' done!" kairi grabbed a blue colored pencil and scribbled onto his paper.

"i suppose we can make that happen. i will be there in a little bit with ale kairi. im going to text you when i get there, bye."

"bye aloe." kairi closed his coloring book and threw his colored pencils back into his drawer. he went over to his closet and pulled out a light blue hoodie, changing into that one instead of the black one he was wearing. he slipped on his white converse and waiting patiently in his room.
