Silverkit looked up at the fluffy white clouds. "Look! That looks like Mistkit with a really over sized mouth." she told Grasskit, pointing to an oddly shaped cloud with her tail.

"Hey!" Mistkit, a light gray cat she-cat squeaked, batting Silverkit with her tiny paw. "It's not funny!"

"Well sure, maybe she wouldn't have said that if you're always tattling on us." Grasskit meowed playfully.

Mistkit rolled her eyes. "Let's just go on playing, then. I call being the brave warrior!"

"No I'm it!" Grasskit protested. "You were it last time!"

"Well you were being mean!" Mistkit squeaked.

Silverkit didn't know which of her littermates to defend. Frankly, she didn't really care. She often caught herself staring at herbs in the medicine den where the medicine cat, Talonwing and his apprentice, Lilypaw worked. It's not like she knew why she was spending her free time observing things there, since she knew in her heart she had always wanted to become a warrior.

She was so caught up in her thoughts she didn't notice Grasskit toppling over Mistkit somewhere around the warriors den. A light furred she-cat whom Silverkit thought was called Mintpelt startled herself by almost tripping over them.

"What do you think you're doing?!" the warrior demanded.

Mistkit and Grasskit immediately stopped their play fighting and sat up. "We were...uh...." Grasskit stammered.

"We were practicing fighting techniques!" Mistkit squealed excitedly. "We're going to be the best warriors RiverClan has ever seen!"

Mintpelt let out a purr of amusement. "Of course. Just remember that you don't become apprentices until you're six moons old!"

"Yeah, but we're about that old!" Mistkit and Grasskit meowed in unison.

Soon, Silverkit saw her mother, Ashpelt exit the nursery. Seeing her kit enjoying herself, she quickly ran over, purring and covering Silverkit in fierce licks.

"Mother!" Silverkit quickly drew herself away. "I'm almost ready to become an apprentice! I don't want to be treated like a kit anymore."

Ashpelt glanced at Silverkit. "Okay, then. " Just as she turned to leave, Streamstar, the RiverClan leader made his way to the Wetrock. "Let all cats old enough to swim join beneath the Wetrock for a Clan meeting!" he yowled across the clearing.

Startled, Silverkit glanced around the RiverClan camp. Should I join the Clan meeting too? she wondered.

Her thoughts were interrupted by Streamstar's announcement. "It's about time three kits became apprentices." he meowed. "Silverkit, Mistkit, and Grasskit, please step forward."

Silverkit saw Ashpelt's eyes burn with pride as she and her littermates stepped forward.

"Grasskit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you have received your warrior name, you will be known as Grasspaw. Your mentor will be Nightfur, and I hope she will pass down all she knows to you." Streamstar announced.

Grasspaw looked as if she were told she was going to be able to fly as she touched noses with Nightfur.

Silverkit's fur tingled excitedly as Streamstar called upon her name. "Silverkit, step forward. From this moment on you shall be known as Silverpaw. I trust Heatherspring will pass down all she knows to you."

Heatherspring padded towards her, and gracefully bent over to touch noses with her. Silverpaw carefully did the same.

Streamstar went on, naming Mistkit, Mistpaw and assigning her mentor as Ivyfrost.

"Grasspaw! Silverpaw! Mistpaw!" The Clan chanted. Silverpaw lifted her chin as she felt the stares of the other cats burning into her pelt.

After the meeting, both Grasspaw and Mistpaw bounded over to her, meowing different things at the same time. Both were talking super fast, and Silverpaw had to struggle to keep up with what they were saying.

"Great StarClan, I feel like I'm going to explode!" Mistpaw squealed.

"Me too!" Grasspaw chimed in.

"Okay, okay, hold on." Silverpaw's head was spinning like crazy. "We're all apprentices now, but it doesn't mean you can continue giving your poor sister headaches!"

Mistpaw stared at her and giggled. "You're so funny, Silverpaw."

"I think that's enough, Mistpaw." The three sisters quickly spun around to see Ivyfrost, eyes lit up with amusement. "Remember that you are now apprentices, not kits." She gave Mistpaw a hard stare, before adding, "Training starts tomorrow at dawn. It'd be best if you three would get some rest. Remember that you sleep in the apprentice's den tonight."

"Okay, Ivyfrost!" Somehow, despite being scolded at, Mistpaw was still optimistic at the new responsibilities she'd been given.

Padding wearily over to the apprentice's den, Silverpaw couldn't help but imagine walking the borders of the Clans, confronting other patrols. The thought made her smile. Still, she walked pass the medicine cat den, and couldn't help but feel a little twinge of jealousy.

Silverpaw quickly pushed the thought away. Warriors are way better, she thought to herself. However, the jealousy still lingered in her. What is going on with me?

She was still wondering why she was so fascinated with the medicine cat duties as she curled up in her new nest and closed her eyes for the night.
