TO ALL THE BOYS.
act one―bad at lovelove should never be this chaotic
AFTER WHAT SEEMED LIKE HOURS OF RUNNING- down the streets, Lara Jean made it home. Instantly, she kicked off her shoes, pelted up the stairs to her room. Practically pushing past anything in her way until she slammed the door shut and searched. Where was that hatbox?
Lara Jean's room was a mess. Clothes were thrown frantically on the floor, she chucked her shoes all over the ground. Finding old papers, stuffed animals shoved in the back of her closet. Yet none of them was the teal hatbox that contained the letters. Her heart pounded faster than before.
The door of Lara Jean's room creaked open, staring with wide eyes was Lara Jean's father and her little sister Kitty―who was actually named Katherine, yet that was another story. The two family members watched Lara Jean practically tear down her room looking for the very thing that wrecked her life today.
"Hey, honey, what are you doing?" Her father asked as he slowly walked into the room, a small smile crossing his face as he did so. "It looks like the next world war happened in your room," Kitty snorted as she chucked a pillow at her sister's head.
Lara Jean scowled at her younger sister, sticking her tongue as she did so. She brushed her locks of hair behind her ears, eyeing her sister and her father as she continued to ransack her room. "Have you guys seen a green, kinda teal hatbox?" Lara Jean quickly asked.
"Wow. No 'hi dad' or 'why are you home so early?' Maybe it was because your patient delivered in under six hours, you brought a new life into the world and you're home to―" Lara Jean quickly interrupted him, "Mhmm, birth, labour, new babies, totally cool dad. But I need that hatbox,"
"Geez, why are you so uptight?" Kitty scoffed. "Why are you so annoying?" Lara Jean snapped back as she shot an icy glare at her sister before looking at her father who only shrugged in response. "Maybe it went out to the Goodwill boxes,"
"Fantastic," Lara Jean muttered under her breath. "Oh, by the way, you have mail. And clean your room Lara Jean I can't even see the floor," her father added on as he tossed her a letter.
"Yeah clean your room, Lara Jean," Kitty teased.
"That's enough out of you, young lady. Now c'mon, let's leave your sister to clean," her father ordered as he and Kitty walked out of her room, leaving Lara Jean alone with the letter.
Lara Jean looked down at the letter, the pads of her fingers feeling the rough texture of the envelope. She raised an eyebrow and looked at the writing on the envelope. A wave of relief washed through her body. One of her letters.
