we both laid in his bed, gazing up at the ceiling as moonlight spilt through his blinds onto the floor and across the covers, beams widening as the travelled up the wall beside us. he had his arm around my neck, his fingers gently twirling strands of my hair in our comfortable silence.

"you know the game is starting soon, right? i hope i get you and that brain of yours in my totally awesome squad." his tone was cheery but laced with underlying worry like he dreaded it.

"i hope so too, but if we don't, i'm not killing you." i promised sternly, leaning my head against his shoulder.

"well, you're going to have to try to if you see me. getting disqualified means never playing again." he informed with a sigh.

"i know the rules, but i'll find ways to trick the game. they won't keep up with me. oh.. and i didn't say i wasn't gonna give you a challenge." i stated confidently with a smirk as he rolled his eyes.

"i'll be giving you a challenge too, kiddo. you won't be able to keep your eyes off me when you see my moves in the ring." he countered cockily, tapping my ankle with his foot beneath the covers. i kissed my teeth nudged him.

"your feet are cold, stop." i groaned with a shiver.

"oh you don't like that?" he teased, tapping me again. i huffed and elbowed his side gently.

"alright, alright. anything for you, princess." he chuckled, kissing my cheek softly.

"this princess needs sleep so i suggest you do the same." i said with a posh accent.

"ugh fine... goodnight. today was fun, really fun." i could hear he meant it from his voice.

"it was indeed, goodnight."

i sat on a bench tweaking my drone, watching him across the training centre as usual; although this time we weren't afraid to sneak glances, smile, make faces at each other. it was becoming our thing. it made me feel warm inside, those same butterflies he gave me the day before returning.

he was busy testing out his holographic suit, making sure every projection was perfect. it was crazy seeing multiple clones of himself run across the room, but hey, i wasn't complaining at all. the more the merrier. that doesn't mean i'd do anything freaky with those holograms or anything... you know, shut up.

truthfully, i was worried of facing him in the arena. the game was being upgraded immensely and evolving constantly, i didn't know what to expect. all i'm looking forward to is meeting him again in the respawn chamber... if we were to lose of course.

i was looking forward to it though and it seemed like everyone was going to be gearing up in preparation for the next few days.

bring it on.
