"hey, what are you up to?" that oh so familiar voice asked cheerfully. i heard his footsteps draw nearer until his boot clad feet came into view as i sat criss-cross on the ground in my living room, messing around with my drone."yo, nothing much. just playing around with this little guy." i answered sleepily pointing to the drone as the other hand propped my chin up on my knee. i yawned afterwards as it had been a long day and a lot had happened in such a short amount of time, it was really taking a toll on my energy.
"aww what a shame, i was hoping you could play around with my little guy tonight..." he teased in mock sadness, smirking at me shortly after, plopping himself down on the ground, gazing into my eyes. i snickered, averting my gaze from those beautiful chocolate eyes with a blush. there was a long pause of silence, the two if us just gazing at each other fondly with clouded eyes.
"is my witwl tae tae tired?" he babied, pinching my cheek suddenly and causing me to wince.
"stop thaaaat." i whined, pulling away from his reach and slapping his hand away. he frowned and hung his head to which i smirked proudly.
"i'll play with your "little guy" another time, you horny bastard. tonight i want a goodnight's rest." i informed scooting myself over to sit by his side, leaning my head on his shoulder.
"that sounds like a deal." he giggled and the room fell silent again. that was until he said: "i don't want to hurt you." randomly with a serious and pained tone, a drastic shift from his mischievous self, staring at the carpet beneath him as he played with it between his fingers to distract himself.
"w-what do you mean?" i asked worriedly, clutching onto his arm and snuggling into it to comfort him.
"in the ring- i... i just can't imagine seeing you in pain." he sighed, looking into my eyes; his glassy from what seemed to be tears welling.
"hey, hey.. if worst comes to worst, we'll see each other again, right?" i assured him, trying to seem enthusiastic but he wasn't buying it.
"i don't know.. i've heard dying in the ring does things to some people... crazy things, really messes with their minds. i can't let your beautiful mind be changed." he expanded, my jaw hanging low from such profoundness coming from him. it's like he truly cared.. for the first time someone truly cared about me.
"that's just apart of the game, a price we agreed to pay if it were to happen, remember? i'm prepared, you can't be paranoid. if something were to happen, i will not lose who i am and my thoughts about you." i promised, taking his hand in mine and squeezing it tightly.
"you'd better fucking mean it." he spat, tugging at his hair. he was clearly in distress.
"woah woah, calm down look.. i'm with you now and i'll be with you after the game." i reassured sternly, forcing him to stare in my eyes as a tires slipped from his.
"i-i'm sorry i just- you're all i have.. really. i know it's been such a short amount of time, but i've never felt so much admir-admari-admirat-ugh!" he groaned loudly in annoyance with himself, slapping himself in the face harshly and rushing to his feet. i gasped from the sudden action and instantly grew worried.
"hey, hey calm down, elliott. it's okay, just breathe.. just breathe, i'm here." i pulled him into my arms, trying my best to calm him down as he sobbed into my shoulder. he seemed so fragile, so broken.. my heart was aching for him. "come on, you need some rest, we both do." i said, pulling away from the hug to look into his puffy eyes. he couldn't look into mind, he covered them with his forearm in embarrassment.
leading him to my bedroom i sat him on my bed, kneeling in front of him to untie his boot laces. he sniffled softly as the nots came undone, gazing out the window at the night sky above. pulling his boots off, i placed them to the side, kicking my own shoes off after.
"go on, lay down, ell." i directed, patting on my pillow. he nodded lightly and lifted his legs onto the bed, shifting over to give me space. i crawled in next to him and pulled his head into my chest, holding it in my arms as i played with his dark curly locks to soothe him. i felt him listening to the steady rhythm of my breathing, his hand snaking its way into my own, clutching on softly.
"thank you." he whispered hoarsely. my heart ached for him.
"no need. rest now." i assured, planting a kiss to his temple.
"i lo-" without a single other sound escaping his lips, he drifted off to sleep.
i had a feeling i knew what he was going to say.. and i think i felt the same way.
