Callie's POV

The only good thing about this situation is that there isn't much to pack.

The bad news is that when I tried to contact Millard and Olive, Millard told me that Olive never made it to the place they were supposed meet.

Our plan as of now was to make our way South, towards Spring Hill which is where we think the White is holding Enoch, Hugh, Fiona, and probably Olive. Then we'll continue on to Advocate Harbour and hopefully get on a boat and head toward Maine. If everything goes according to plan we'll be able to guide all the other peculiars to Advocate Harbour and we'll meet them there. But my hope of that happening is slim.

The sun was getting lower in the sky and the anxiety in the air was thick. Everyone's expressions were grim.

Bronwyn's voice rang out across the apartment breaking the uneasy silence.

"Are we going to eat before we leave?"

I looked over and made eye contact with Emma as if trying to communicate without word's or my telepathy. However neither of us got the chance to reply before Horace answered the girl, with a bit more agression  to his tone than nessicary.

"No! Absolutely not. Now keep packing. "

Emma sent Horace a look.

"What Horace means, is that we'll take food with us and stop to eat whenever it is safe to do so. "  I spoke, attempting to assure the girl.

With that everyone returned to what they were doing, and soon with the sky beginning to turn orange, I made a final pass around to apartment for anything we might need. My search ended at the door where Hazel sat patiently, and a look in her eyes that told me she knew what I was doing.

I leant down and rubbed her head, scratching behind her ears gently.

"I'm sorry I have to leave you, friend. I hope the best for you. "

Hazel meowed at me and I sighed, walking out the door and heading out of the apartment to where Horace, Emma, and Bronwyn were waiting.

Horace seemed the most on edge and kept glancing behind us, as we slowly began to walk away from the apartment complex.

I paused for a moment to take one last glance at the place I had called home for so long, but before I knew I was on the ground, with a sharp pain coming from my ankle.

I let out a scream as I felt my self get dragged away.

"RUN!!" I yelled as loud as I could before shutting my eyes as tightly.

As I felt my body leave the ground, I heard the sound of panicked yells and then feet hitting the ground, as my friends ran for their lives.

My breathing started to get heavy and rapid and I desperately wanted to open my eyes to see what was happening, to look for a way out. But when I felt the cold slimy pressure of a tentacle on my eyelids, trying to force my eyes open so the hollow could eat them and take my life, I knew the best thing I could do for myself was squeeze my eyes shut tighter.

I didn't want to die.

The tentacles pushed harder.

If I died Horace, Emma, and Bronwyn would never find their family.

I tried to get my arms free from whatever sort of appendage had me in it's grasp.

If I died I would never find a family of my own.

I tried to push the tentacles away from my face, and turned my head away.

Suddenly all the pressure let off, and I screamed once more as I plummeted to the ground.

I hit the ground with a thud, and my entire body ached. I fought just to keep my eyes closed, even though I wanted to see what had freed me from the Hollow's grasp.

I tried to stand up, but I just fell over again, until I felt a hand on my should and another one on my wrist pulling me up, and then pulling me along as whoever was guiding me broke into a run.

I stumbled again, and decided that if someone was taking me away from the hollow I could take my chances and open my eyes finally.

When I opened them, I saw that it was Horace pulling me along.

I looked ahead of us and saw two figures of who I assumed must be Bronwyn and Emma also running from the monster.

Finally I chanced a glance behind us, and saw a mountain lion with glowing yellow eyes. The creature was covered in blood and just in front of it was the bleeding form of a horrifying monster, I assumed was a hollow. It appeared to have clothes on, and had large pointed legs, and hands with fingers like knives. It had no face except for a mouth which had dozens of tentacles drooping out of it.

I felt light tugs on my arm, and realized that I must've stopped running when I looked back at the Hollow. I tried to break out of my trace, but immediately got distracted again when I saw the Mountain Lion turn towards Horace and I.

I finally broke out of the trance when Horace violently yanked on my arm, just as the mountain lion leapt in our direction.
