Callie's POV

Truth is I was pretty annoyed with Horace. I'd made it pretty clear that he needed to stay where he was. He even said he would. Then he didn't.

We got back to the apartments where Emma and Bronwyn were waiting outside. They were ecstatic to see another one of those friends again.

We headed inside, on the way back I'd deliberated quite a bit wether or not to tell Emma and Bronwyn he hadn't waited for me.

I decides not too, as much as I was annoyed, seeing the look on Bronwyn's face when we got back made the desicion for me. I couldn't tell them, it would break Bronwyn to know he tried not to come back.

So with that in mind, I decided to let it go. I can understand why he didn't want to go with a stranger.

"Emma, it's pretty late, why don't you put Bronwyn to bed, and I'll get some food out for Horace."

Emma nodded and picked up Bronwyn dissapearing into the bedroom.

I began to walk to the kitchen, but Horace stayed where he was. I turned back to him. "Well, are you hungry or not?" I asked.

He looked up at me and nodded violently. He then followed me into the kitchen where I gave him an extra peanut butter sandwich left from dinner.

It was now that I got the chance to take a decent look at him. His clothing wasn't far off from what Emma had told me. If it hadn't been so incredibly dirty and torn it would've been a really nice suit. His hair was a yellower shade of blonde then Emma's and it was slightly wet from when he'd hijacked the strangers bathroom. Despite his attempts at cleaning it up, there were still some pieces of leaves stuck in it.

I'd be lying to myself if I said I didn't find him attractive.

"So Horace, you never answered my question. Why did you continue walking?"

He stopped chewing his bite if sandwich for a moment and looked up at me like a deer in headlights.

He swallowed.

"I'd um. I'd rather not say."

This answer left much to be desired. Not only did it not answer my question but it made me curious. I wanted to be friends thiugh, and I didn't want to overstep my bounds. I still was a stranger after all. So I decided to respect his wishes.

"Okay."

"Wait really? You're not going to press for more?"

"No. You said no. And I need to respect that."

"Huh"

After that, Horace went back to eating his sandwich and I yawned taking that as a signal to go to bed.

"Well, I still have to work tomorrow, and it's late. Goodnight Horace. It's was nice meeting you."

"Pleasure meeting you too, Callie."

The formality of his response caused me to roll my eyes as I left the room.
