-4 DAYS LATER-

(Edelgard's POV)

I opened my eyes and yawned as the daylight shined in my room, I turned to the side and was face to face with a sleeping Byleth.

After the fight wih the bandits, everything was basically back to normal...or maybe a little bit. Me and Byleth hang out with each other more often and we would sleep with each other at night now instead of our separate rooms. Honestly....being with Byleth has never made me happier, and I'm sure he feels the same away too.

I jumped let out of bed and put on comfortable clothes before walking over to Byleth, I tapped him lightly on the shoulder and he stirred awake. He looked at me and sighed, "Do I have to wake up?" He asked with annoyance.

"Yes silly, you need to go and do your job."

Byleth sighed and pushed the sheet off of him and walked over to be corner of the room to get dressed. As soon as we both finished we walked out into the hallway acting as if we just bumped into each other along the way.

After a long walk we finally made it to the classroom, I sat on my desk as Byleth walked up and began to teach the class. "Alright class let's begin with-," but Byleth was stopped as a guard entered the classroom completely out of breath, "Sorry professor, I just wanted to ask if Lady Edelgard could come with me for a quick second." I looked at Byleth and he nodded allowing me to stand and leave.

I stood up and walked me the guard by he just took my outside in the courtyard and handed me an envelope, "This is from the king....your (step) father." I nodded and opened the note. But after reading the note I wished I never did...

"Father wants me to get...married?"

The guard nodded, "He said that you are to leave tomorrow morning at dawn, and then you'll meet with the prince you are to marry, and soon enough the two of you will get married . I suggest you start packing after class Lady Edelgard." The guard bowed before walking back into the monastery. I fell on my knees and began to cry, I didn't want to get married...not when the person isn't...

I turned back towards the classroom and saw Byleth laughing as he was teaching everyone...if only he was the one who asked me to marry him...I would've never felt like this. I gasped as I realized..how was I going to tell him about this?!

I decided to leave the matter to myself and not tell anyone. I walked back into the classroom trying to look like nothing happened at all...

-NIGHT TIME-

As I was ablut to walk up the stairs to my room I stoped as I noticed Byleth standing there. He glanced at me and smiled, he ran up to me and grabbed my hand and kissed it.

"Hey Elly, you ready to go to,-"

"Sorry Byleth...I have important stuff to do, and ummm...maybe you should sleep in your room tonight."

"Huh? Well maybe I can help you with it."

"NO! I mean...no..sorry, Lady Reha told me to do it myself."

"Oh..well alright then. Goodnight love."

I wrapped my arms around Byleth which cause him to flinch a little, "Good bye..." I whispered in his ear. I ran up the stairs wiping my tears as I went...knowing that I would never see him ever again...

(Byleth's POV)

I scratched my head as I tried to figure out what the neck was wrong with Edelgard. It must've had something to do with the note...but what. I was about to walk up the stairs until I noticed some guards rounding  the corner, I quickly bid behind a statue and listened in on their conversation.

"Hey you know Lady Edelgard is leaving the monastery tomorrow."

"Huh? How come, I thought she liked the monastery."

"Apparently her father, the king, found someone for her to marry. So she's gonna leave tomorrow morning and go back to the castle to meet her groom."

"Man that's what sucks about being a royal..you always have your life planned out for you."

After I was sure they were gone I walked out and leaned on the monastery walls...Elly was leaving tomorrow...to get married? But why didn't she tell me...then it hit me, she probably didn't tell me because she didn't want to hurt me...

I groaned in anger as I tried to think of what to do...

"I won't lose her..I won't lose my Elly again!"

-DAY TIME-

(Edelgard's POV)

I woke up a little earlier so that I could at least say goodbye to Byleth before I leave, so I grabbed my bag and closed my door for the last time.

I quickly ran down the stairs hoping the guards wouldn't notice me, but then I stopped as I noticed that Byleth was sitting on one of the benches in the courtyard. I gulped as I slowly walked up to him, I sat next to him and took and deep breath.

"Byleth there's something that I,-"

"You're leaving aren't you? So that you can get married?"

I sighed as I felt tears streaming down my face, "Byleth...I'm so sorry. Trust me I don't want to get married...but my father would never allow me to say no..never."

Byleth knelt down in front of me and took my hand, " Then let's run away..me and you. We will be outcast and live our with freedom."

I shook my head and began to cry more, "But..my father."

"I don't give a damn what your father says I want to be with you Edelgard, and if I have to be a runaway I order for that to happen then I will." Byleth then grabbed out a small box and opened it to reveal a beautiful silver ring.

"Elly...will you marry me and become a runaway with me?"

I couldn't breath my heart was beating loudly in my ears....I didn't know what to say..but in my heart..I somehow just knew the answer. I knelt down next to Byleth and kissed him on he lips, "Yes...I would love that more than anything." Byleth smiled and placed the ring on my finger.

"Come on, I already made a horse for us to ride on." Byleth took my hand and ran with me to the shop by the entrance to the monastery. He jumped on a horse that had about three sashes on it, he let out his hand so that I could jump on.

"Are you sure about this Elly? Once we do this there is no turning back." I nodded and grabbed my husband's hand he then whipped the reins on the horse and without missing a beat the horse began to ride down the monastery steps and into the valley ahead. I smiled and laughed as our horse began to move faster, I wrapped my hands around Byleth and looked back at the monastery for the last time.

"You ready Elly?" I nodded and smiled with determination, "Yeah...let's go Byleth." I said as we rode into the sunset now forever known as runaways...

Although I was sure there were going to be a lot of obstacles in our way..I just knew that me and Byleth would beat them all..
