I was standing beside the road, a few meters away from the coffee shop door when Sebastian arrived. He got out of his car and then smiled when he saw me. Of course, I smiled back at him too. "Why do you have to be so good looking Seb?" were the words inside my head. I tried to calm myself to avoid spacing out.
"Hi! How long have you been waiting for me?" he asked while fixing his hair.
"Not that long, just a few minutes." I lied. I waited 20 minutes but I didn't really mind since it was me who wanted to talk to him about Vince. I would rather be waiting than let someone wait for me. I really value the time of others and I just hate coming late.
"Shall we go now or do you want to go inside the coffee shop first? You should have waited for me inside instead of standing here beside the road."
"It's alright Seb, I don't really mind. Besides, it was me who asked for your time. We can go now; I'll just message Tia later."
"Okay, I hope you'll like the place that I choose."
"I hope it's interesting."
"Of course it is. Well, I'm not really sure if you'll find it interesting though."
We were on the road for quite some time and I was still not comfortable about sitting alone with him in his car. I don't know how to start the conversation between us to kill the silence and I'm not really sure if he likes to talk while driving. Maybe I would just annoy him and I don't really want to bother him so he could focus on the road. I took out my mobile from my bag and decided to message Tia.
"Hey cuz! I have a meeting with someone, it's somewhat important. I'm sorry; I won't be able to visit you. I'll message you again when I get home. Love yah!"
"Someone? Maybe you meant Sebastian? Hahaha! Enjoy the night cuz! No worries, love yah too! X"
"How did you know?"
"I saw you standing outside the coffee shop and I was curious why you didn't come in. Then, a car stopped in front of you and I saw Sebastian get out of it."
"Do you have plans to be a detective? Well, I can't lie anymore though. We won't take long, it's just dinner."
"It's alright Sam, you're both single. Just enjoy the night! x"
"Was it Tia?" he asked while his eyes were focusing on the road.
"Yeah, she saw us outside the coffee shop earlier."
"Is she worried about you going out with me?"
"No, she was actually teasing me. I told her we will just have dinner."
"What if it's not just a simple dinner Sam?" I felt a bit tense upon hearing his question.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"I'm just kidding," he said. But why do I feel like he's hiding something from me?
We arrived at our destination and the place was really nice. It was a restaurant with an indoor garden with small light bulbs surrounding it. The place looked fancy and the customers were mostly a couple. Is this how it felt during a first date? But we were not even dating. The waiter greeted us while we were on our way inside the restaurant. Sebastian told him he had a reservation and he then assisted us to our table. I remembered about the project Theo had emailed me, so I took out my pen when we were settled in the place but I forgot that I lost my journal. I sighed. He asked me what I wanted to eat but I couldn't really decide about it so he handed me the menu. He suggested I order their best seller instead. So, I ordered baked salmon with veggies since I'm a pescatarian and Sebastian didn't mind about it. He told me he used to be a vegetarian during his teenage years but he decided to eat meat again when he started his career in their company. He was really eager about keeping our conversation going and the more he spoke the more that I got to know him better.
