THE TWO SIBLINGS hastily paused their argument, turning to face the nervous wreck stood behind them. A scrawny green-haired boy fiddled with the straps of his bag, his eyes fixated on the floor. Valentina furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, patting the damp book.

"Sorry, did you say something?"

The broccoli-haired boy's face went a deep shade of red under Valentina and Niko's intense stares. He then averted his gaze to the book. For a few moments, he stood in front of Valentina, unable to form a full sentence until finally—he spoke.

"That's my book!"

His face went deeper shade of red as the corners of Valentina's lips twitched upwards.

He looked awkward under her gaze as she examined him openly. His face was littered with freckles, similar to Valentina's. He had a short mess of green, fluffy hair which framed his round face and wide emerald eyes. As she stepped closer to him to hand his book over, Valentina noticed he was about the same height as her and that his breathing was ragged.

He gulped as she placed the book in his hands. "Th-Thank you."

"No problem." She took a step back and stood beside her brother. "I'm Valentina Beauregard and this—" she nodded her head in Niko's direction—"is my brother, Niko."

Niko folded his arms—trying way too hard to be intimidating but failing miserably due to his youthful appearance. He nodded at the green-haired boy.

"Hey."

The boy's eyes flickered between the two. He sent them a shaky smile, his voice wavering for a moment. "It's nice to meet you both. I'm Izuku Midoriya."

"Yeah." Niko gestured to the book. "We know."

"Oh."

There were a few moments of awkward silence before Valentina suddenly clapped her hands together, startling the two boys.

"So, Izuku Midoriya, are you headed that way?" She asked, a beaming smile evident on her lips.

He nodded and her face lit up.

"Cool. Us too!" She exclaimed, her grin never leaving her face.

Midoriya let out an anxious chuckle, glancing between the two. "Cool."

As the trio began their journey home, Valentina kept her eyes fixated on the scruffy book in Midoriya's tight grip.

"So Midoriya," She swung her arms back and forth, bouncing with every step she took. "Why'd you throw your book out the window?"
