𝑴𝑰𝑵𝑫.❜❜THE DAY OF THE ENTRANCE EXAM had finally arrived and to say Valentina Beauregard was nervous would be an understatement. The girl had woken up on time for once, already scoffed down enough food to last someone a day and was more hyperactive than usual. Her aunt had given her a lengthy speech explaining that as long as she tried her hardest, she'd always be proud of her.
Her younger brother, Niko, was less enthused but claimed it was because he already knew that she was going to do amazing. He made sure she wore the luminous yellow bracelet he had made for her when they were younger, hoping that it would calm her nerves.
Tristan strolled alongside Valentina, glancing over at her cautiously as she babbled on, probably unaware of the rubbish she was spewing. She wiped her clammy hands onto her school skirt nervously for the sixth time before Tristan decided to speak.
"Stop sweating so much. It's gross."
Valentina sent the boy a nervous smile. "I can't help it! I'm kinda nervous. Were you this nervous on the day of the exam? I feel kinda sick. What if my Quirk malfunctions and I make a complete fool of myself. Wait, no—I do that on a daily basis. But—"
Tristan placed a hand on her shoulder, preventing her from moving. "Firstly, breathe."
Valentina exhaled softly.
Tristan squeezed her shoulder softly. "Now, listen to me. I get that you're nervous, I was too, but you've trained so hard for this. I for one, know you're going to do amazing, just be sure to give it your all. Okay?"
The anxious teen nodded, feeling slightly surprised. Her siblings were probably the worst when it came to comforting others, especially Tristan. But his short words of encouragement actually calmed her nerves.
For once.
She punched his shoulder lightly. "Thanks, Tris. I really appreciate it."
He nodded before glancing back down at her twitching fingers. "Did you take your pills?"
Valentina shook her head causing Tristan's eyes to widen. "I can't. They make me tired and when I do take it, my Quirk is harder to control than usual."
"But if you don't, you won't be able to focus and you lose control of your Quirk." Tristan thought for a moment. "Either way, it's a lose-lose situation."
The hyperactive girl hummed in agreement. "This sucks."
Valentina ran her fingers through her hair but stopped halfway when her nails caught painfully on a clump of untamed mess. She averted her gaze from Tristan to the azure sky in an attempt to calm her nerve-wracking thoughts. Their pace had slowed and Valentina peered up at the famed establishment looming over her.
