"Okay, uh, never have I ever...... been... um, in a fancy hotel," Chuck said.
Me, Luggie, Jim, and Chuck were playing 'Never have I ever'. It gave us something to do to pass the time when we had nothing to do in the bar.
"Jim, it's your turn," Luggie said.
"Never have I ever been seen in a speedo, and I intend to keep it that way."
  Now it was Luggie's turn.
  "Never have I ever-"
"Kept a steady job because I'm a lazy fat ass," I finished for him.
Everybody at the counter laughed. Luggie rolled his eyes and sarcastically chuckled.
"Har dee har har, your sooo funny (Y/n)."
"I know right? I'm like a pro at this."
Luggie rolled his eyes again. Then he put his hand against his head. My turn.
"Alright, never have I ever been loaning money from my mother."
  Burn 2 for Luggie.
"Ey! Just because I have no money, does not mean you guys can pick on me."
Chuck snorted," It does, we can, and just because."
"Exactly," I said as I high fived Chuck.
"You guys are mean," Luggie sighed.
"Yeah, but you've got nowhere to go so.....," Jim said.
  "AAAAAAAHHHHHH! Not you too!"
"Welcome to the club man," Chuck said as they high fived each other .
I rolled my eyes at them. Boys. Am I right? Or am I right? Gotta give me some credit. I sighed and went back to wiping the counter. Then I heard the front door to the bar open up and close. I looked up and saw a the old guy at the monastery. What is he doing here?
He seemed like he didn't belong here, and yet, he didn't really seem to care. He scanned around the room until his eyes landed on me. I quickly looked away and went to back to wiping the counter. If you don't look, maybe he'll go away. But then I heard foot steps coming to me. Oh shit.
I slowly looked up and have him a awkward smile.
"Can I... help you with something?"
"Yes,  I believe you can. I am here to speak to you about something. "
  "Yeah, and what is that?"
  "It's about your father."
I just stared at him with a blank face. My father? Why would he come to to talk about him?
"What's there to talk about? He died in a cave trying to look for...... a certain something."
"And do you know what that something was," he queered.
"Yes. I do. And I'm not gonna go and join you to be a ........ a team member of your...... group. No thank you I am good."
"But did you know what your-"
"My father was Morro, master of wind. Was a bad guy for a while. Became a ghost, then he got wet. Then he actually stayed dead. And that means that I got his power. Yay," I said sarcastically.
"Look, I'm sorry, but no. I'm happy here. I have everything I need."
He seemed taken back by all this. First, he shows up out of the blue and now he wants to take me in.
"If you really wanted me,  then you should've picked me up at the orphanage. But no, you blew it. Have a nice life, Sensei Wu," I said with disgust as I walked away.
I know I know, that's mean. But guess what? Life is a bitch sometimes. And when life gets bitchy, you gotta get a little bitchy sometimes too. Simple really.
Then I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned and saw Wu again.
"Look man, I already told you I'm not-"
"It's not about me training you. It's about..... helping us."
I looked at him. Surprised by him.
"There is a threat in the city of Ninjago. The Oni are back. And I need your help to find them."
"Well.......," I thought real hard to find a good excuse, " wasn't your dad a Oni? I'm mean, I don't wanna get into a fight with someone who has the same strength as him, you know. That would be crazy."
"Please. Your our last hope. I would go to Mistake but, she's not with us anymore."
I tensed at the name. I mean, she was my little sister for crying out loud. Well, not this life's sister, my last one. You get the idea. I remembered the day I went to the funeral. People kept asking me 'Who are you? Mistake never mentioned you before.' Stuff like that. But I didn't care. I just stood there and watched as she was lowered into the ground. I visit her once a month now.
"Well, how do you know the Oni want to hurt people this time? Usually, their more forward with their plan to take over stuff. You know, attack stuff, then ask questions later."
"True but- How do you know that? The Oni have only attacked us once."
I could tell he was now studying my face. Waiting for me to screw up.
  "I, uh..... Um. "
"I'm actually starting to wonder if you are (Y/n)."
I sighed and looked down. All the horrible memories flooded back into my head again. No. I will not break down again. Especially in public.
"To be honest Wu, I would rather be anyone in the city right now, then (Y/n). I'd change if I could," I said without looking at him.
"Why? Why would you change, you?"
  "Because, sigh, I can't say."
  "And why not," Wu asked.
I looked back up at him. He seemed to have a worried face. Everyone always does with me.
"I can't say. I just....... don't want to burden anybody."
Lie.
"Believe me, I have heard many things in life. You will not surprise me."
"I would but, now is just not the time," I said.
Lie.
"Did you lose somebody close? I can help you, if you want," Wu said.
"I...... lost a lot of people close to me. And at such a young age. It just all.... happened so fast. "
Then Wu put a hand on my shoulder. He gave me those same concerning eyes that Garmadon used to give me when I talked about my mother. I looked down at the counter.
"(Y/n)," I looked up, "What happened to you?"
I gave him a simple answer,  "Life is what happened. It takes your loved ones away from you, it makes all these colors, it harbors good, it harbors bad. It can give a few surprises once and a while, everyone has a different opinion about life. But right now, I think life is a little fucker that only makes fun of people like me and cause bad things to happen just to watch that person struggle, and laugh. Now leave me alone. I..... have to work."
