Carol's POV

The snap had actually worked. I mean, the green guy's snap, the Hulk's. The good snap. I was just in time to witness it too.

Saving Nat, it was a piece of cake.

It's not what you think. I didn't just flew in and caught Natasha and came back home. Well, yeah, I did catch her. But the Red Skull guy appeared before me right after.

He said that Clint would get the stone, but I had to pay the price for stealing the sacrificed soul.

Dudes, I just blasted that guy with my photon fists and flew off through time back to 2019 like a real boss. No prices paid.

Nat had a nice trip; she slept the whole time, even when I got us back home.

I didn't waste time at all. Scott received me, I think I caught a glimpse at Rogers and Banner. To be honest, I didn't care.

I know I just said I practically escaped the Red Skull, but I was a tiny bit worried. The price I had to pay? I didn't know what it was, but I was not about to wait around for it, exposing Nat to whatever it could be.

That's why I brought her to Talo's ship. The momentary home of the Skrulls. We haven't yet found a place they could comfortably call home, so we got a huge ship we borrowed from some enemies we took down. We cleaned it up and now it's called SWORD.

The place she should be most safe at should be the space counterpart of SHIELD, am I right? I do hope I am right.

So I took Nat to space, for her safety, and I came back down to earth, just to assure everything was running fine. And it was.

I had gone back to the avengers just as soon as they had finished the new gauntlet.

Clint was happy to know his best friend was alive, the others too.

But Banner, though, he was eager to see her, and I was eager to tell him to back off. But, you know, I can't act like the jealous girlfriend... yet.

Banner also wanted to play the big hero. The snap, it definitely wouldn't have hurt me, but he was convinced he was born to do it. I didn't want to steal his thunder, so beats me.

Clint received a call from his family right after.

The chirping of birds could be heard even from inside the facilities. I just had to fly outside and admire even the life of the trees, the flowers, the smell. It smelt like peace.

But something was coming. I could feel it, and I knew now, that the price to be paid was going to crash here on earth. And I could tell, little ol' Thanos could be a part of it. Right there in the distance of the skies, of space, I could feel his ship coming. And I was taking him down.

Whatever it was, my fists were ready to fight against whatever is coming.

What I wasn't ready for, though, was Natasha through my comms. Who the hell trips on air? This fool, of course.

I was a sucker for her voice, specially when she was demanding. It was a huge turn on. And heck, I would do anything for her, so I couldn't just let her down.

Thanos was taking forever and Nat was calling for me. And we all know who here is more important. The Avengers got earth handled, so a few minutes of my absence wouldn't hurt a bit.

So, it all brings me here, up to space again. Back to her. To tell her I love her.

Well, um... guess it could be easier said that done. Right now, my strongly beating heart, my rarely existing sweat, and the butterflies in my tummies? They were so intense I could barely breath.
