Carol's POV

My chin was held high as I stared into the sky of a setting sun. I have been thinking a lot of what I am about to do, and I have been very eager to do so.

With no idea of how or if it will work, I gather all my strength and my will to save Natasha. To bring her back. And as soon as I have her back in my arms, I will definitely lose no more time and tell her how I feel.

One thing I've learnt from this, is that one second you might think you're in control of your life, but the next you may have nothing left but emptiness and darkness. And you regret not cherishing those good moments well, regret not doing the things you want to do, before it's too late.

I let it be too late once, but I won't do it again.

I charge up my power, convoked my helmet and began levitating myself.

"Stop it right there, Captain Marvel!"

The voice broke my levitation. My feet landed on the grass again and I glared at him. That Scott Lang guy, the ant dude or something.

"It's Mar-vel," I corrected him, "and what do you want?"

"I um... yes, of course. Carol, I mean Danvers. Or captain? Cap? Are you also cap?" He blabbered.

I rolled my eyes, "Danvers is fine." The rest of his group calls me that anyways.

"Okay, sorry." He laughed awkwardly, "So, to the point! I am here to help you."

"How?" I rose an eyebrow.

"Before sinking himself into the work of the new gauntlet, Tony prepared a new copy of the Pym particles so you can use our time travel machine."

"Oh." I simply said. Surprised.

Ten thousand pounds off the shoulders now. Hopefully.

"Yes. So, if you allow me; I will escort you down to the room thingy where we have that machine travel thingy." He frowned, realizing he was speaking funny at the end, "Yeah."

"Lead the way." I lifted my hand, motioning him to lead.

With a silly smile, he walked by me and I followed behind.

These headquarters, I remember them quite well from when I stayed back a little while with Natasha.

The time I spent with her was so little, but very worthwhile.

This place was big, and we foolishly played hide and seek sometimes, like little girls. She'd find me faster than anyone, faster than I could find her. She was so good I had no doubt she was very good at her job.

She was pretty much good at anything. Even cooking; nobody could beat her skill at making sandwiches. Yes, sandwiches, it's not like we had the time for a buffet.

"What are you giggling at?" Lang tilted his head to the side a bit, just to eye at me.

I frowned, coming back to reality. A reality where she no longer existed.

Well that's about to change.

"Nothing, stay sharp." I coldly said.

It didn't take much time for us to reach the place with the time traveling machine.

Scott quickly got me suited up, in a white suit with red and black stripes and the letter A on a corner of my left chest.

"So, what's the A for?" I poked the symbol with my finger.

"Avengers." He answered, pride in his voice. I could tell the team meant a lot for a lot of people. Like it meant family.

"Cute." I smiled, "I once flew an aircraft named like that."

"Guess it's destiny."

I heard him while I stepped on the platformed. Very high technology that it looked.

"I'm curious, how were you originally planning on time traveling?" The ant guy asked.

I turned around and faced him, both of my hands resting on my hips.

"Do you like... have that ability or something?"

I snickered, "No, actually I was just going to fly real fast and hoped that speed would open like a portal or something that would bring me to a different time. Hopefully where I needed to be."

"So you were just going to hope to fly there?"

"Great idea I had there, right?" I wiggled my eyebrows.

"Yeaaah." He blinked a few times, like he couldn't believe what I was saying, "Well thank God for the pym particles."

"Yeah." I shrugged, "That could work too."

Scott shook his head while he sighed and began working on the computer commands.

"One more thing." He interrupted himself.

Scott grabbed the time traveling watch. He jogged up to me and put it inside my hand.

"This is for her, in case she lost hers during the whatever situation she's been through." He ran back to the computer, "Just make sure she's wearing it so she can travel back to us."

"Will do." I curled my fingers around the watch and closed my eyes.

Here I come Nat. I am going to bring you back.

"Come back in five seconds." Scott said before hitting a button, and that's where all the magic started.

The platform I was on shook a little. Bright lights sucked me in, towards some sort of technological dimension.

My body was quickly swirling and navigating through some sort of colored rings and other shapes. I was literally being sucked like a vacuum into the unknown. But I knew where I was going. The vacuum did too.

It spit me onto a more rocky ground. The force made me fall on my knees supporting my body with the help of my hands.

My body shook from the shock, but I recovered quickly and rose my gaze up to the only peak that was surrounded by literally nothing but puddles and rocks and a dark mist right around the top, like a collector of souls.

Now this was the worst place to die. Can't imagine how awful it must have been for agent Romanoff.

I shook my head, go away bad thoughts. I just want to concentrate on finding Natasha quick.

It couldn't be that hard. There was that peak, there's no other place she could possibly be.

And as soon as I heard Clint's voice, shouting her name, I knew I had to be fast, or I'd be too late again. And I won't be doing that again.
