WANG! WANG! WANG!
"Quick! Inside! Move cautiously!"
The police swarm the front porch of the Granz household that was just situated deep within the subdivision where houses were spread out far from each other. Police lines and sirens made the whole neighborhood alarmed with what was happening.
"Detective, we'll give a go signal if it was okay to enter the crime scene." The police major barge in the house to secure that there won't be an ambush. His nose met a waft of odor in the air. Following the stench, a body that was just starting to decay was found.
"Too late...tsk! Move! Keep securing the perimeter! Find, if there are more victims or at least a surviving member of the family!" The police major kept the search for any other person that could be found in such a big home, the police were petrified to find a beautiful blonde woman's corpse and a child curved into a ball just underneath the sofa.
Unconscious.
Pale.
Delirious with high fever.
Just a little more delay and he'll be dead as well. Seeing a light of life to this child, the Major quickly picked up the child and ran back to the front porch.
"Lieutenant Colonel! I found this unconscious child just beneath the sofa... he... he's still breathing but had a high fever! Call for Medic!!" The child was quickly put on a stretcher and first aid was done immediately. The police were horrified with the state the child was in. The Major quickly reported to the Detective to conduct a police investigation on the case.
"Detective, It seems that the crime was already committed two days ago at most, it was reported due to the pungent odor smelled by a postman that was passing by and because the family was not responsive to delivery calls." The major has this look of grimace in his face.
A face of frustration, fear and pity on the victims.
"Thank you Major, I'll take this from here, be sure to help the child, he will be helpful to this case as we don't have any leads yet." The detective proceeded with his deduction to the case.

"Lieutenant, the only motive for killing is burglary, the family's valuables cannot be found, the Granz are quite wealthy given that the father was a high ranking military official. Unfortunately, he died on the battlefield, also recently. According to the data, he's been designated a lot on conflict borders and If there are any motives, the child could tell it as there are no records found that would let Mrs. Granz be killed." The detective enumerated what was on his mind, analyzing why the killing took place.
"Detective, This is too much for the child to bear, he's conscious now but... He's not speaking. Losing parents would really take a toll on him and witnessing it...I can't even fathom his trauma." The Lieutenant pondered sadly with these thoughts.
"You are right Sir, but this might be a case of serial killing. It's been happening for three consecutive months now. Looking at the report, it was the same pattern. The pattern for burglary and killing of a single parent, leaving out the child. Only this child must have a chance to see what the killer looks like. I deduced that this maniac is one and the same. I think we'll find a lead soon Lieutenant, he's getting lax...Good thing we got his hair sample from the victim's palms and his fingerprints are everywhere. His gloves were taken off. I don't know how that happened but Mrs. Granz must have found a way to at least leave proof after her death. She fought and her sacrifice won't be in vain.We won't let him get away this time" The Lieutenant was shocked with the rundown of information to this case.
