jordyn.

"Fuck! I can't do it," I sigh, watching the ball bounce off the rim.

"You're rushing it, angel. Concentrate. And here," Miles says, adjusting my hips. "Your feet should be pointed at the rim."

"It's too hard, babe. I can't."

"Stop saying you can't. I don't know what that word means. Try it one more time. And this time concentrate."

"Fine."

As Miles fetches the ball, I stare down at the free throw line. Miles has been teaching me how to play a little bit. It's just fun for the both of us unless, like right now, I get frustrated. This shit is not as easy as it looks.

"If you make this one, I got something special for you," he smirks, gently caressing my thigh before walking behind me.

I feel myself getting excited, knowing what I'll get if I make this shot. For the first time this whole lesson, I actually concentrate. And just like that, I make it. I feel myself get all giddy inside like a child.

Next thing I know, Miles is kissing and licking all over my neck, making me weak at the knees. I turn around as he picks me up. We began to make our intensely until we hear someone open the gym door.

"Son of a bitch," Miles sighs, rolling his eyes and putting me down.

"Okay, you two have got to stop making out everywhere you go. This is just getting out of hand," Zion says, covering his face with his hands.

"You've got to stop walking in on us making out," I say.

"Well , I didn't expect you two be fucking in BASKETBALL GYM! Nasty asses. Anyway..."

ring. ring. ring.

"Naomi, you gone stop hanging up on me. I'm trynna work this shit out!" my dad booms through the phone.

"Um... dad? Is everything okay?" I ask.

"JJ?! Oh my god, my fault. I thought I was calling your mom."

"Dad, when are y'all figure this thing out? Just get a divorce already."

"It's not as easy as that, JJ. Your mother and I have been together a long time."

"Whatever, it is as easy as that, but if you wanna fight with her everyday that's on you," I sigh, sitting down on the bench.

"I'm sorry," he says, his voice regretful.

"I got to go. See you later."

"They fighting again?" Zion asks.

"Of course they are. When are they not fighting?"

"They need to go ahead and leave each other. This shit is getting toxic as hell," Zion sighs, rubbing his head.

"Be careful what you wish for," Miles says. "That divorce stuff ain't no joke. When they're done, they're done."

"I'd rather them be done than to be breaking shit every night. Last night, my mom threw my granny's favorite dish at my dad. I know we're gonna have to hear about that forever," I shrug, laying my head on Miles's shoulder. "How's Morgan doing?"

"She doesn't understand, but I'm sure it'll click eventually. Dad never paid her much attention anyway. She just sees my momma going through it. I do not wanna leave her right now."

"You know she wants you to go though, bro. Plus, my momma and her got each other. They'll work through this together."

I hate when they start talking about leaving. The last thing I wanna think about is leaving my baby. I don't know what's gonna happen when we go to college. But I just got my baby, and I don't wanna lose him already. I get up and go to the bathroom. As I walk, I hear someone walking behind me.
