Evelyn Mikalson was born into the sweet catholic family. She the only girl with her twin being the boy, making all her family pressure her the most. She was the only girl offspring of the family as neither of her auntie or uncle had any girls.
This meant she had to be married of. Since she came from a rich catholic background she would be married to a man just the same as her.
She was taught to do cooking, cleaning and making sure her role of a woman was simply to please a man.
As you can presume Evelyn didn't follow that rule. Whenever she could she would read and write all she could. She wanted to make sure she had the same opportunity men had even if she didn't have a choice.
When she finally turned 18 she was married of to a rich man like they said she would be. His name was James Barren. He was a respected doctor of London with much money. His family was catholic and wealthy.
Once there arranged marriage had been complete her life took a 360. She knew that James would never love her as he was a self absorbed type of person. The only reason he married her was for money.
So as she grew older and turned 20 when the war hit he was sent of to France as a solider. Evelyn was made a nurse in France and accompanied him.
On the 2nd year her husband died.
Then on the final year Evelyn was hit by a shell. The shell caused her to loose her memory up to 7 years.
When she woke up she had no idea about anything or anyone. So when she was told her husband had died and she was in an arranged marriage she took off.
She searched for small towns that people didn't know and fled.
She ended up in Birmingham small Heath and there she would meet John Shelby.
She didn't know it but her life would change forever...
