I could not believe what I was hearing. A child. They want him to make a heir. So many questions are going through my mind. How can this be possible? What person would let someone they care about go through this? This is something you hear on a soap story not normal life.
" I'm sure you have questions"
" Do you want a cup of tea?"
Barker burst into laugher and raised his eyebrow
" tea? Seriously? "
"Yes. Would you like one ?"
I went over to my kitchen and began to pour the water in the kettle. I needed space. Time to think. This is complicated. Do I want to be involved this. He is married but not romantically. I don't want to be a home recker. But it's a business deal, a contract.
The feel of gushing water on my hand broke my train of thought and it was only then that i notice Chris's arms around my waist. I felt his breath near my ear. He smelled perfect, hint of aftershave, natural scent, sweat and with a hint of mint.. I turned my face towards him.
"With everything I just told you, you are asking me whether I want a cup of tea?"
"I don't know what to say" I whispered
"Yes you do. Ask me Sarah."
"Do you sleep with her"
Please say no
"Not if I can help it. But yes I have slept with her in the past"
"When was the last time you slept with her?"
"A week ago, but believe me it means nothing's. It's all part of the deal"
"You must feel something "
" I am a man and she is an attractive woman so naturally yes I do feel something. But I don't love her and I won't. Ever"
" I need time to process all of this" I walked towards the front door.
"Of course. Meet me tomorrow"
A night is not going to let my process this. I needed more time.
" I can't tomorrow. I have plans"
Barker isn't stupid. He knows what I am doing.
" Cancel them"
I drank in Barker as he strides towards the gate. My god, my body is reacting to him like a teenager.
"BARKER" I shouted and to my demand he turned around looking confused as ever.
"Are they worth it?"
Barker smiled and wink "most definitely"
