Sup dudes.... It's been a while!
Sorry, I guess life got in the way? No...? Ok...? I'll just get on with it then. This "chapter" is dedicated to the Storm and Silence series by RobThier
This series is made up of a total of 6 volumes.
1. Storm and Silence
2. Eye of the Storm
3. Silence is Golden
4. Silence Breaking
5. Hunting for Silence
6. Storm of BellsAs I've previously mentioned in my "chapter" on the Cupid Series, I really LOVE history. This makes this series of books even more entertaining to me.
The books take place in Elizabethan era England, where we meet our heroine Lillian Linton.
The story follows her through life when she has the unfortunate luck of meeting Lord Rikkard Ambrose. (I know unfortunate luck is an oxymoron dudes... just go with it)
Lilly is everything I need and love in a main character. She is independent, opinionated and always fights for what she believes in. Which is of course, any Elizabethan men's nightmare.
A woman after my own heart who fights for women rights even though everything and everyone disagrees.
I really think that we need more and more strong female characters in the world of books and other media.
The books definitely touch on certain themes and issues that are still valid nowadays, transcending time to make us realize a few things about modern society. I honestly see a lot of myself in her. In fact I see a lot of twentieth century women in her.
I really enjoy other characters as well. Such as Karim, uncle Buford and other characters we meet further into the series (no spoilers). The author really makes it a point to have a big variety of characters in his books. Raging in gender, profession and social station.
The way certain characters are described speak a lot to the authors talent as a story teller.
Let's take Lord Rikkard Ambrose as an example. His character development is, in my opinion, one of the pillars that make the whole series. Where he starts out in the first book to where the last one finishes, the evolution of him as a person is simply phenomenal.
I won't go too much into details as I really think the books need to be read to get the full experience.
Yes, the word experience was used... sue me.
Reading these books made me LITERALLY (not literally) jump into another time, another world. The amount of knowledge and research that has most obviously gone into writing these books is simply amazing. The way the author sticks to the era and really uses descriptions of places and situations to paint each and every page... inspiring. Truly.
One of my favorite parts of this whole series isn't even the story (it's a pretty huge part though) is that at the end of each chapter, the author offers us more insight into the time period by explaining certain words, phrases and even objects used in the chapter.
I mean it's the best of both worlds! (Insert Hannah Montana theme song here)
Reading a wonderful story while learning at the same time.I couldn't put my phone down when I started. I think I had finished volume 3 when I realized that the following book was not out yet. From then on, I was glued to my app and checking everyday for an update. I read chapter after chapter, one by one waiting for that weekly update.
To finish, I truly enjoyed the voyage this series has taken me through and I would recommend it a thousand times over.
GO, NOW! READ! (Please)
