This will be a little different than normal. I want to talk about a book that changed a lot for me and I hope that it'll do the same for you guys.

The book in question is "Jefferson Lake" by knightsrachel.

If you already know this author (which you probably do), you must be asking yourself why I'm "reviewing" this book and not the first one. While I did enjoy "My Brother's Best Friend", I have to say that its spin-off has done more for me in terms of social understanding than entertainment.

I know, confusing.... Don't worry I DO have a point! I swear!

At first I only started "Jefferson Lake" because it was linked to "MBBF". However after the first few chapters I realized that it was much more than a simple story about a teenager.

This book has truly opened my eyes on mental illnesses and the likes. I'm ashamed to admit, I was one of those people who used the name of illnesses in vain (eg. OCD, Bipolar, ADHD etc.). I honestly didn't think it was that much of a deal. But I quickly realized that, this was due to the fact that i had never really met anyone that suffered from a mental illness.

"Jefferson Lake" really helped me understand what it was like to live with one of those disorders as well as how hard it is for families and others to deal with and understand said disorders.

I applaud knightsrachel for writing something so inspiring, using this platform to sensitize as many people as she can about mental illnesses.

I personally believe that people are more likely to understand certain things while reading than any other conveying media. Being inside someone's mind and thoughts is truly the best way to inform people of certain delicate issues. explained things from someone else's point of view would not convey the message.

These are the kinds of writers that make me love reading so much. Writers that have a true passion about their books. Writers that have a true will to depict certain characters or situations to other, to share their worlds and minds.

If you've read "MBBF" you already know about the main character of this book. His name is Lee Adams. The book recounts his life while facing hardships, with himself, with his brother, with his friends and of course a potential love interest.

I marvel at how knightsrachel portrays these characters. She conveys so much emotion in her writing that I must admit I may have shed a few tears of compassion here and there (Only proof it's good!).

If you are in anyway curious about mental illnesses or even if you're not be sure to check out this book. Even if your life doesn't require any information on the subject, it's always good to know things like this, to be able to be prepared and sensitized to these issues.
