You felt people bump into you as you stood in the center of the airport looking around for your girlfriend.
The text you got home from her just a few seconds ago made your heart pound in your ears. You looked around, even standing on your tiptoes to find her. But the airport was so crowded you couldn't see her.
You turned around and when you did, there she stood. Just a few feet away from you with her phone in her hands that she almost dropped when she saw you turn around.
You both stood frozen in place for a minute until it hit you that she's finally home from her promo tour. She's really back.
And you ran to her. People moved out of your way so you wouldn't bump into them. And finally, for the first time in what felt like an eternity, you jumped right into her arms. She dropped all of her things on the ground before you were in her arms so she could put her hands on the backs of your legs.
She had to blink quickly to keep her tears away. It all felt so wrong without you there by her side for the past two months.
It didn't feel right, none of it did. She was happy when she was on stage and got to perform new music for the fans, but her heart ached for you.
"I missed you so much." Your words were muffled by her skin, your face buried in her neck. But she didn't care. She grinned at your breath fanning across her neck. "Me too, princess. I missed you more than you'll ever know." She pressed a kiss to your head and let her lips linger there a moment.
"You ready to go home?" You asked as Demi put you on your feet. "Yeah." She smiled and kissed your cheek. She took your hand in hers and reached for her duffle bags while you tugged her suitcase behind you.
She fell asleep with her head on your shoulder on the way home. "Demi, wake up. We're home." You said softly and rubbed her shoulder. She opened her eyes and looked around, a breath of relief when she saw that she really was home. It all felt like a dream.
You unbuckled your seatbelt and then leaned over to do the same for her. Her hand trailed up your back and pushed you a little closer when you went to sit back in your own seat. "Hey... I missed you." She leaned in and kissed you. Your hands rested on her cheeks, your lips finally back on her own warm ones.
"I love you, baby girl. I'm sorry that I feel like I'm just gonna crash as soon as we get upstairs. But I'll make it all up to you in the morning." You shook your head with a smile and pecked her lips. "Don't be sorry for being tired. You've had a busy couple of months. I wouldn't mind if you slept for the next three days. You're here again and just being able to hold you or you holding me is all I want right now."
You kissed her forehead and got out of the car. She sighed but did the same. She walked to the trunk of the car where you were getting her bags from. She looked tired, her legs looking a little weak as they barely held her up. "I got them. Come on." You managed to grab ahold of all her bags and still be able to hold two of her fingers as you walked up the steps. You took out your keys and put them in the front door.
As soon as Demi was inside she felt all the previous stress and tension she felt completely disappear. You put her bags on the couch and locked the door behind you. "You okay?" You asked as you rested your chin on her shoulder and kissed her neck. "Yeah, I'm great."
She took your hand and started to lead you upstairs. "Wait, Demi! Your stuff." Demi giggled but kept walking upstairs. "I'll grab it all tomorrow. I'm not worried about anything else but laying in our bed with you in my arms." You blushed a little at that.
She kicked her shoes off and laid on the bed as soon as you got into the room. You went to the closet and grabbed one of her favorite hoodies for her. "Tired?" She sat up and helped you take off her clothes and pull out her earrings before she pulled the hoodie over her head.
"More like exhausted." She muttered and closed her eyes. But she opened them again when you started running your fingers through her dark, short, and slightly curly hair. "Your hair is so smooth. I've missed running my fingers through it." She giggled and took your hand from her hair and into her own. Her lips trailed across it for a moment while she kept her eyes locked on yours.
"Baby girl, I've missed you so much." She moved up the bed and put her head on her pillows. She opened her arms up for you. "Come cuddle with me. Let me hold you." Her eyes were feeling heavy, the exhaustion starting to creep up on her more and more. But for you, she fought it.
You took off your shoes and moved up to where she was laying. You put your head on her shoulder and felt her arms wrap around you. She kissed your temple softly. "I'm gonna make you breakfast tomorrow."
You looked into her eyes and brought your hand up to stroke her cheek. "You don't have to do that. you just got done with a promo tour, you should rest. If anyone should be making anyone breakfast it's me making it for you." She playfully rolled her eyes at you. "No. I wanna make it for you. I've missed making you breakfast." She closed your eyes and leaned her cheek against your hand.
"Okay." She smiled and felt your lips against her forehead as she started to fall asleep. "I'm so happy you're home." You whispered. "I love you, y/n. It's so good to be home again."
