"Auntie sorry i'm late, i was given a last minute job" Michelle said while pulling away from her aunt's arms after a hug.
"no offence taken dunni" her aunt replied to her apology
"happy birthday auntie"
"thank you my dear".
Michelle went further into the house, preparation for a small family party to celebrate her aunt's birthday was in full swing Michelle went over to talk to her cousin susan .
"susu" Michelle called to her cousin who was chopping some carrots. With a playful frown on her face susan turned to face Michelle and said
"it's Susan or Suzzy" Michelle laughed at susan's weak attempt of correcting her and then said,
"I don't go with the flow so i prefare to call you susu". 'susu' that had been susan's nickname was what her mum teased her with, susan was comfortable being called that when she was little but she does not appreciate now.
" alright i would just call you dudu" susan said, 'dudu' which means black in the yoruba language which was Michelle's language .
"okay, touché suzy, touché" Michelle said and then continued "you know I don't like being called adunni or dunni, you are now making it worst by calling me dudu".
"now that is better Michelle we both know what to call ourselves" they both laughed, Michelle knew he cousin was joking, all though susan did not like being called susu anymore she still let Michelle call her that. Susan although older by seven years still chatted with Michelle like they were the same age, Michelle then begin to help Susan with the vegetables while they caught up on each others lives.
